Once the episode airs this Friday, i'm pretty sure I can extrapolate a more accurate mesh.

man, that looks excellent. nice and detailed, now all it needs is a good texture job........

You may want to spoilerize this thread ;)
Nice start, as it stands.
-
Looking good.
What polycount are you aiming to?

For the BSG-ignorant guy:
How many Battlestars were there before? And is every Battlestar different?
And, is there a good reference for the BSG universe out there? ;)
-
I don't think it's ever said how many there were, other than that there were more than one. The Galactica is often refered to as "the last Battlestar", though, so for the purposes of the show there's only one as far as anyone knows. However, in both the old show and the new one, there is at least one episode where another Battlestar shows up (the Pegasus); in the old show the Galactica and the Pegasus were the same ship with their nameplates changed, implying them all being the same class; in the new show (obviously) the Pegasus is a different class so there may be more. Hope that adequately sums that up :)
Oh, and there's no way the New Galactica could be a refit of the old show one. There's just too many structural differences. If they want to pretend to have a legacy then the old one would have been the namesake of the new, much the same way the Enterprise (Constitution class) became the namesake of the later versions.

Cool, that's exactly what I was wondering. Now I just have to go find some encyclopaedia for this universe. I love reading about the worlds that these people come up with. :)
-
were there not 12? one for each colony?
-
In the pilot, it was established that there were 12 of the class that the Gallactica is, constructed as the first class of battlestar. The number and class type grew out from there.

Nice
"Pegasus" airs tonight, right ?
-
Indeed.
Not really a spoiler since nobody has a ****ing clue what's going to happen, and this was legitly in the preview.
