Title: Can't play movies
Post by: Colossus on September 24, 2005, 10:25:13 am
The movies won't play in my game. I uninstalled DivX 6 and reinstalled DivX 5 and they still won't play. I haven't done anything special to my installation; I only have the SCP, FS Port, and the media VPs installed. Anyone have any ideas?

FS2_Open won't play the MVE movies on the CD. You need avi versions. Check the FS2 download thread in FS General.

Yeah, I've got the same problem, only I know for a fact I do have the AVIs. What directory should they be in?

\data\movies works for me.

What version of the DivX codec are you using?

I had problems with .avi playback in FS2_Open too until I rolled back to DivX version 5.2.1

Movies should play from anywhere in the FS2 search path so anywhere in Data or a moddir should be fine.

This could be a problem with the codecs as Facty suggests. The Divx 6 codec appears to be doing something naughty even when playing XVid encoded avi files.

Well, I had them in the wrong place (root of the FS2 directory). Unfortunately, I appear to have the DivX problem. Maybe I'll transcode them into something else and see how that goes.

They should work fine from there. I had them there for ages and only moved them to another folder later to keep things tidy :)
