Title: Perfect Dark Zero
Post by: Deepblue on September 25, 2005, 07:59:56 pm
At E3 they showed it behind closed doors. Only now has some footage of that come to the surface.

:eek2:

Those environments.... wow...

Ragdoll and animation could use some work though.

Some more PDZ:

http://www.gaming-360.com/movies/pdz4.mov

http://www.gaming-360.com/movies/pdz5.mov

I hope they fix the ragdoll...

Anyway, in the same vein of leakage is Kameo:

http://www.gaming-360.com/movies/kameo.mov

And some very impressive Ridge Racer footage:

http://www.gaming-360.com/movies/rr6.mov

EDIT: More leakage, this time from a game called Warriors which I have no idea what it is:

It is rather shocking how barren this thread is...

More thoughts:

That guy better be playing on monkeycanbeatthis difficulty, because the AI is looking a tad dumb and while the environments look absolutely suberb, the character models are significantly less wow inducing.

You're a personified Google advertisment engine.

Fine...

More thoughts:

I find it extremely cool that you can actually watch the bullets empty from the RPC90 (HELL YEAH!) clip as you fire.

I would have been interested if it was a computer game, but I don't care for console FPSs. :p

Some reassuring news:

"It is worth clarifying that in this debug build many physics were turned off as well as the enemy AI."

I find it bizzare HLP isn't requesting payment from you for the advertising.

I mean, spam advert bots get banned right? Does the fact it's posted by a person instead of a bot matter?

Mind Boggling issues here.

Oh give it a rest. What, he can't talk about the games he like now?

I watched the clip, and while it looks good it's not quite up to the standards I've seen in other Xbox 360 games. I think that it was meant for the original Xbox, and was then updated for the next gen consoles. Granted, it was a Shakey Cam movie, and quite short, so you can't really judge the quality, but it looks more like a really good Xbox game as opposed to truly next generation.

I think that is quite true of the character models, but the environments are downright amazing. The jungle vid looks better than FarCry. Not to mention the ice cracking under gun fire. The texture resolution is insane. NOTHING in the environment looks 2D.

Actually it started out as a GCN game...

This game's environments + MGS4s character models = mind blowing awesomeness.

Don't forget to post 10 times in a row just so it'd get bump...

Oh nevermind, I see you remembered.

Really? I thought Microsoft bought Rare two or so years ago? It couldn't have been that far in development for the Cube, could it?

Like I said, they're tiny videos, so it's hard to judge. The environments did seem better than the character models though.

Post by: Deepblue on September 25, 2005, 11:11:23 pm
It started on GCN, went to Xbox, and they were 10 months away from completion on Xbox before they switched to the Xbox 360.

EDIT: Keep in mind this is the E3 build running on alpha kits. We'll be able to see how far Rare has progressed since then come X05 on October 4-5.

1. Is there no limit to your spamming?

2. Do you actually enjoy gaming, or do you prefer to ridicule other people for actually looking forward to something because you have nothing to look forward to?

3. You keep bumping the thread yourselft, if you want it to die, why don't you shut up?

4. Sony/Koei should pay HLP according to your thoughts.

5. Go away.

I have no interest in it dying.

I have every interest in you halting your advertisment posts for the Xbox systems, but since nobody is able to appeal to your sense for common decency because none of us come here for advertisment, I figure I'd do the next best thing and ridicule your attempts in public.

Common decency? Do you realize how idiotic you sound? You seem to have no problem advertising what you like.

1. http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,35263.0.html

2. Then there is this little tidbit found in the same thread... "Twin Snakes is really the best game, considering it's MGS1 with MGS2 graphics... it's on the wrong ****ing console."

3. Does the platform of a game really matter? Really? Because if it does you are a lost cause.

I think you meant Blackdove. I on the other hand am TRYING TO POST RELEVANT INFORMATION.

The jungle level is seriously kick arse. He stands right next to a bush and it looks bloody real.

EDIT: Only because I am A. Responding to him and B. Responding to Rictor.

EDIT2: I genuinely like PD, the original was a blast. And yet you say I advertise every X360 game out there? How delusional can you get? Last time I checked I have posted specifically for about 3 X360 games. PGR3, Gears of War, and Perfect Dark Zero.

You outpost him, 11 posts to 4. If you want to add something to a post you just made, edit it in! Don't post again!

Yes, because turning this around on me is going to make it go away.

How sad that you have resort to defending yourself like that.

You see, the difference between you and me is that I genuinely like MGS games, and am very excited about any sequel rumors, and like to post about them, while you like every single Xbox 360 game that hasn't been released yet.

Also I don't get a commission every time someone buys a PS2 or anything Sony produces, or MGS.

Tell me a little, how does it feel being a whore for the industry?

...Meh, Perfect Dark on '64 looked better...for the time period that is...I just hope they put some good original stuff in Zero, lest they just crap out another remake like Conker: Live & Uncut, which was also a bugger-load better on the '64...

...Oh, and Deepblue;

Are you sure that's the RPC90 (...or is it RCP90...), and not the RCP/RPC120, which made it's appearance in the '64 version (aside from the Callisto, the best bloody gun ever)...?

Pics do no justice. It's shaky cam footage and low res.

Here are some screengrabs nonetheless:

It was the absurdity of the whole situation that struck me - would we be having the same threads if it was a TV or a video or a microwave?  I mean... video of a TV screen?

It's not exactly earthshattering stuff, nor urgent, and yet people still look and moan about the whole thing as if it actually mattered in the real world.  And that applies for all games/consoles, too.
Title: Perfect Dark Zero
Post by: Deepblue on September 26, 2005, 05:36:10 pm
It doesn't really matter. But it is cool especially for those of us that loved the original.
Title: Perfect Dark Zero
Post by: aldo_14 on September 26, 2005, 05:45:00 pm
But...it's nothing.  It's ultra-low quality footage shot of something that isn't even the final product.   Why should anyone care about it?  (and I mean that as an existential question)  Why do people hoover up this stuff?
Title: Perfect Dark Zero
Post by: Deepblue on September 26, 2005, 05:52:37 pm
Low quality or not, it shows huge improvement from the few screens we saw at E3.

Post by: aldo_14 on September 26, 2005, 05:57:26 pm
Yeah... but who gives a ****?  And why?  How does this change our life?  Hell, how does it change what we decide to buy in the upcoming console wars round XVII?  I mean, I've never bought a game based on a fuzzy shakycam video made months before release, have you?
