Title: Serenity!
Post by: IceFire on September 27, 2005, 10:24:27 pm
I wasn't a fan of Firefly until last weekend where a friend of mine forced a small group of us to watch many episodes in a row.

What a fantastic show!  How did I miss it the first time?  I don't know but I'm now REALLY excited about the movie.  I knew it was coming and I knew where it came from but I didn't really pay much attention to anything else about it...

And now!!!

This happen to anyone else?

That's very similar to the experience I had. Just about a week ago, my suite mate told me about the show, so I downloaded all the episodes, and instantly fell in love. I absolutely adore this show, and I'm so excited about the movie that I'm pissing myself.

is there a torrent for the whole show? I ask as this will increse the earnings of the movie so I doubt the copyright holders would be upset at this time.

Me to, I borrowed the full season from one of my friends and didn`t stop till I watched half the season. :D
I also found out it only aired for one season :(

Does anyone know what network firefly aired on,  by any chance?

Am going to see the movie this weekend, if all goes as planned. :)

Fox.

I understand the first episode (the two hour pilot) was not shown on Fox because they felt it "didn't have enough action" (which is simply rediculous because it was action packed!!!) so everyone got tossed the second episode...and that makes no sense a'tall for the continuity.

So basically they screwed the pooch.  Idiots.

Fox, wow, I thought it would have been the sci-fi channel to show this!!

I saw the series when it first aired, then again with the REAL pilot episode and some extra eps. later on the Canadian sci-fi network.  Then, I bought the series when it came out.  I got as many people as I know hooked on the series.  I hope they play the theme-song sometime in the movie (possibly during the closing credits).  One of my favotive parts of each episode, (apart from the theme-song) is the logo after the credits for "Alien Mutant Inc."  "Grrrr, Arggg!"  That's hillarious!

Has anyone seen that for a brief moment, a Firefly transport was seen in the pilot for the new BSG series?

It is now. Sci-Fi picked up the series, and is showing it at the moment. A new season I believe is planned as well.

I bought the DVD set, on sale. I'd been somewhat interested from all the talk, and two rips I'd seen, but have been pretty damn impressed since I started watching it.

I recently just watched it today. Sci-fi was showing all the episodes today. :)

I just saw the last episode on tonight's Sci-fi line up. I was thoroughly entertained. I believe it was the 9th episode. Time to catch up with the last 8, including the pilot, and then the last 2 after.

What is it about this show that lets it get away with the western motif? I was urked at first, then I stopped noticing it when I got more immersed in the story.

Its no BSG, but it definitely has its own unique flavor and its one I like. Very good first impression! I hope the rest of the season is as good. The trailers for Serenity also looks promising, but I would like to finish the season and reserve judgement and decision on going to the theater.

as I said in my post in this instance I doubt the copyright holders would care, given it would help there movie sales, if your so worried though, the admins don't monitor PMs...

Dudes, you guys missed out a lot by not watching Firefly when it first came out.  But I am glad to hear that at least you finally catch up with it.  It's a pretty good show but I wonder why no one watned to watch it.  Anyhow, I am going to see Serenity when it's out :)

Well I never really heard about it when it came out...and I think I tried to find it on a TV somewhere and I couldn't.  This happens sometimes if a major US network that isn't shown in Canada starts showing something.

Also, I'm not sure how far along SPACE channel was when it started...Plus Canadian ratings mean doggy-doo to U.S. executives. Sci-fi and other types of shows do better here than in the States but we don't count for ratings...

Anyways...I did miss it but I'm really glad I'm not missing it anymore.  I still haven't seen a few episodes but damn I love it.  And yes the opening theme music really has to be in the movie somewhere.

Ummm no...can't say it was.

They shoot too many guns, kill too many people, and swear in Chineese far too much to be that...

It show was not very well promoted.  The good thing that I like Sci-fi and I tend to check out new Sci-fi series on TV.  I missed a lot of good Sci-fi shows on cable because I do not have cable.

I have never, as far as I can recall, ever seen a film on opening weekend.

I'm making an exception this weekend.

Oops.

Guess it's easier to read the screen though.
