Arhem, I know it's pretty gay to be a fan of this show, but what can you do when you grew up with Superman?
Anyway, awesome start of the season as far as I'm concerned, it looks like they're going to make the focus of it around:
KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!
Kind of strange that Zod is Kal-El's father though, but then again, it's always been weird that his mother is his high-school girlfriend.
Anyways, to sum up, pretty good start, can't wait for the next one.
Blackness. Evil. Kind of retardedly obvious but it worked for me.
-
:wtf:
What Superman show is this now?
-
*spits out blood due to his overwhelming desire to not wish to admit to watching the show...*
Small.... *copious amounts of blood pours out* ville...
-
Infinite Crisis. Screw Smallville, and read Infinite Crisis.
-
So this thread is about.... the Zodfather?
-
Every thread is a little bit about the Zodfather if you ask me.
Though in this thread, it's about the fact that Terrence Stamp, who played Zod in the first Superman movie, now plays Superman's father.
-
He's also going to be the villain in TES:4 Oblivion :)
All hail Zod! Heir of the Camoran dynasty! Down with the false Septim Emperors! (played by Patrick Stuart... becuss!)
-
...
-
Always wondered how Superman used to play that dissapearing game with Zod at school (as mentioned in the movies) when he was a newlyborn when Krypton was destroyed, which was after Zod's banishment?

Damn it all if that doesn't sound like a euphamistic cover story for child molestation. No wonder he ended up schizophrenic.
-
Comics. You should all read comics.
-
When are they gonna make Batman a crapy rip off TV show?
Or whan is Batman gonna come kick Vlark Kents ash?
-
....
You know they're in the same universe, right? That means that they come to blows probably once every year or two.
-
I know if I were Batman and some stupid alean were running around messing stuf up all the time I would put an end to it to.
+ According to the comic book people Batman made a Kriptonite ring just incase...
-
I thought Supes gave Bats the ring?
-
Possibly, my friend sorta jibbers on and I pick some stuff here and there. But I knows that Jor'el is Clark's real father. (I learnerid that from that there TV)
-
That's standard.
Personally, I'm not that up to date on Superman. Haven't really read many comics since the last reset (1986/1987).
-
Those guys have been up to the same old stuf... Superman died like twice, Batman died ZERO times. They traveled to the future, they traveled to the future or something. Superman fought some... things? All that good stuf.
My advice is the same as I gave to one of my girlfriends:
"Rember they may look cool, but thats how they trap you! NO! DONT LET IT TOUTCH YOUR SKIN!!! ... .... ... ONE OF US! ONE OF US!!"
-
I could careless about what or waht is not Superman canon. I think Smallville is an entertaining show. I love how they constantly nod at the Superman mythos. Now they nod to Zod. COOL!!!. I found the premiere episode's pacing to be quite rushed. They should have fleshed out the story in a 2 parter. But I was still entertained.
I'm sure many hardcore fans are screaming bloody murder and its their loss if they have not been watching Smallville. I'm pretty sure they will complain less about this TV "travesty" once the new Bryan Singer movie comes out. I think the actor they casted for Superman looks like a fruity sissy. Perhaps they are targeting the NY Chelsea boys.
-
I dont know how many cannons Superman has! Batman is better, he could just dodge the bullets from Superman's cannons, sneak up behind him, then BLAM!!! hit him with a brick!!!
-
wow, you are stupid.
Anyway, I thought the movie tie-ins from this episode were cool. the fortress of solitude looks just like krypton from the movie, and the way those kryptonians got trapped in the end, also from the movie.
"Their home is their only poison." Mentally unblalanced Lionel Luthor FTW!
-
JK.. :wtf:
-
You know, you should all be watching Alias 5x01 anyway...
-
I don't watch superman, i hate superman:)
Never liked it.

Yep, that's what I was thinking when I saw it. It's almost an exact replica.
Also, true on the mentally enhanced? LL.

Anyone who reads Marvel comics on a regular basis should certainly start throwing ideas such as 'Feasible Plot' and 'Tying up loose ends' out of the window. In fact, Marvel comics thrive on loose ends, it's those they use to make the next story ;)
-
ya, like they make a comic then 30 years later make another one that explains it :eek2:

Yeah, it was a little bit on the predicatble side. Especially Lex stealing the Kryptonian ship and one of the humanoid Replicators from Stargate oozed out of it. (I swear it was the same actor who was the head Replicator before the whole RepliCarter and her "boyfriend" deal)
-
Too many LLs.
-
Lionel Luthor
Lex Luthor
Lana Lang
Lois Lane
L.L. FTW!
-
If we go into the comics, we get even more. Lori Lemaris, for example.
-
LL Cool J
-
....
No.
Bad Fearless Leader. No cookie for you.

*peers at Singh's strip*
You know, the biggest decision I have had to make, television wise, this year was Ep8 of Teachers, or the season opener for ER.
And for the rest of the year, its the choice between ER and a video game. *heh*

That thing still airs?
I thought it had a cardiac arrest already and they finally decided not to intubate.
Maybe that was just my wish.
-
No they have got it on a constant IV drip of D-list celebs.

Lucy Lane, also.

Lucy was in Smallville too IIRC.

It is the only decent thing left on TV. And that's scraping the bottom of the barrel. Actually more like gouging it and getting what's underneath the surface.
TV is for consoles.
-
Yeah, I can't argue against that.
TV is -_- aside from all the special sci-fi shows, etc.
-
Only thing I'm really following on the major networks is Lost, which is just as crazy as ever. Other than that, it's pretty much all Adult Swim; that episode of Fullmetal Alchemist last night was just mind-blowing. :)

I can't even find a good scifi show anymore. The last was Farscape, and that lost my interest too. Babylon5 was the last really good scifi show on television, as far as I'm concerned, with Farscape a trailing second.
-
When I say sci-fi shows, I mean Battlestar Galactica exclusively, and maybe Stargate Atlantis for other people (BSG for me only).
Testament to the 24-7 **** on TV.
-
TV?
Oh yes, that's that big box in the living room....

I've never found Stargate to be of value for much beyond keeping HLPer's busy. As for BSG... well. I'll leave that to others and try not to be insulting about it.

But using your twisted mind to explain how excellent things actually suck is what you do best!
-
Perhaps, but excellence is a matter of opinion.

Presumably not the same Teachers that used to show on Channel 4, I guess.
Incidentally, am I the only person who thinks Lost is overrated tripe? I watched - and enjoyed - the first few episodes, but more and more it strikes me as overdrawn, one trick pony TV.
-
yeah, I think its the same. Its a BBC series, Aldo. The cop and the catty teacher are hot hot hot. :D
-
Can't be the same.... Teachers was definately C4 and didn't have 8 series; http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/showcards/T/
[q]Kurt McKenna: [Brian and Kurt attempt to dissuade Simon from going travelling in South America:] Brian, word association: Paris?
Brian Steadman: Croissants.
Kurt McKenna: Spain?
Brian Steadman: Bulls.
Kurt McKenna: South America?
Brian Steadman: Hostage situation. [/q]
I didn't watch it all that much for some reason, but it was pretty good IIRC.
-
He said episode 8 not series 8. :)
And it's easy for Yanks to think that we only have the BBC producing drama you know. That's all they ever see from this side of the pond.
-
I like that one show, I think its called Keeping Up Apperences?
-
I know you yanks get Father Ted on PBS sometimes too. If you get the chance give that a try. It's a bit surreal but very funny.

oopsily doops :o
Oh, and Father Ted = genius. Pure genius.

have any of you ever heard of the Red Green show?

We creatures of the night like to watch our TV comfortable...
Which reminds me, if you ever visit DON'T bring garlic with you. I'm alergic.

My Teachers is your Teachers Season 1. Simon, the irresponsible, sexually obsessed, teacher-by-accident dates the cop, lusts for the other english teacher who's an absolute b, and ends up telling a girl to dump her boyfriend because he won't sleep with her.
I love it. Its trashy, its irreverent, everyone has a foul mouth, and the situations that Simon gets himself into just leave me laughing my ass off. I'm happy to know its got three more seasons out there. Maybe I'll be able to get them easily once I get to Oz.
Here's the BBC America page (http://www.bbcamerica.com/genre/comedy_games/teachers/teachers.jsp) for the show.
-
I'm waiting for Flying Circus to go back on air on PBS.
What?
-
Oz?
that must be oine of the worst shows on earth... IMHO
-
I like smallville, but i stoped watching it a long time ago, when our satalite service we could not pay for no more... and that is sad. Sifi chanel died, and so did i.
Oh yeah, smallville. Liked it cauze of
1) the girl, kruke
2) was cool.

I have Keeping up Appearances airing here some days. I can agree with aldo.
-
:p
-
"The Bucket residence. Lady of the house speaking!"
-
Well, now you must be purged.
-
With fire.
-
It's pronounced Boo-Kay!
-
Lost is awesome.
Keeping Up Appearances is one of the stupidest shows I've ever seen.
-
Stupid isn't quite the word i'd used.
I prefer excrementally, inanely awful would be more accurate (but still not harsh enough). in the grand scheme of things, Keeping Up Appearances ranks about the pleasure level of having open bowel surgery in milton keynes with a sharpened spork, done by a fat Brummie trucker named Dave who is wearing an apron borrowed from a roadside caff.
-
Wow. In my experience, his name is Chuck, but otherwise it's dead on
-
I can't understand the hate for Keeping Up Appearances; I cracked up the first time I saw it. Now that I think of it, I haven't seen it for a long while. The one sister who's always wasted...Rose, I think...was freakin' hilarious in that episode where they were singing in church. She comes staggering in yelling, "I want to be a nun!" :p Poor Richard, though; he probably takes the award for most pussywhipped husband.
