*I think I posted this somwhere but can't find the thread*
Anyways, I was wondering how far into development the 2d, top-view version went (IIRC as done by WMCoolman ?)
Maybe I should do a Super Aleste/1942 style mod and trump even Shadows of Lylat for nostalgia value ?

I think he's talking about this:

I've played around with it (Super Freespace Kart!) and it holds promise, but I haven't heard much about it lately.

Far as I know, it works. But, I don't think I ever added the variable for camera distance from ship.
Try starting a mission and check the '2d mission' box in the mission specs. That should be all that's needed.
Edit: AI sucks, except for turrets, but that'll be a project in and of itself to fix properly.

Could it be possible to exclude ships from the 2d only movement? Or is that just asking for trouble? :nervous:

Probably wouldn't need full-blown AI.
