No one reads this text anyways. I found an awesome little modeler recently called "SketchUp", which is hella intuitive, but still can't make up for lack of talent ;). Made a little cruiser with it. It's a little bit fat, but that's what ends up happening when I model without constant mirroring. It also has inconsistant greeble density, and a lack of greeble on the bottom.

If your wang looks like that, you should probably see a doctor.

Hey! that's what i'm supposed to say!

sketchup is a pretty cool program. Its primarily used as an architectural tool, its not advanced enough to get really detailed and the rendering sucks but it is very easy to use and learn. However it doesn't work well with sweeping or organic forms.
-
Awesome. But greeble the bottom if the polycount will let you.
-
Looks like something from Babylon 5.
Pretty neat, though.

-
If it weren't for the turrets, I'd say it's a Faustus Mk II
-
Aweeeeeeeesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Me likey
-
Rock. Good job, and nice use of Sketchup, that.
-
Nice :D
*downloads sketchup*
*orgasms*
*looks at price*
*goes and "aquires" a CD key from a "friend"*
EDIT: By the way, perhaps you can help me. I can't seem to get the scale tool to work right. I scale it, but whenever I try to move the scaled piece into position, it goes loopy and shoots up the blue axis. Can you help me out?
-
Looks alot like a Faustus, IMO.
And this sketch program kicks ass. Now... just to get some tutorials on how to do turrets and stuff... help?
-
Make them in sketchup and when you convert to cob put them in position using my truespace tutorial (You'll pretty much need some basic truespace or 3DS max knowledge to make turrets as I doubt that sketch-up will get the hierarchy correct.
-
Cool. Hope those big gun things on the front don't become beam cannons though - make them great big shell launchers or railguns or somesuch. :)
-
hold ctrl when you use stretch to make it scale around the middle.
And yeah. I like big cannons, so that was the idea. Was also gonna put a few little antifighter turrets on it. (prob. on the engine section), and some antennae in that hollowed out area in the middle.
Sketchup also has an arseload of tutorials on their site. Vid tutorials too. What some of these people do with it is insane (like build a birdhouse from one picture reference that was off-angle)
-
Looks like something out of a future time period in Star Wars.
-
Faustus with BOOM BOOM cannons.
Me likes.

...I don't know what you've been looking at, but most don't look like two big cubes joined by a thin bridge. On second thought, I don't even want to know.
-
I'm thinking (read as hoping) that that was intended to be sarcastic :p
-
why not a MAC gun (from halo)
-
Jesus. Look at the post dates, buddy. I realize we all have to learn, but damn. Nobody's posted in here since October.
-
Eh, I would not have noticed it otherwise...
-
hey look ghost im new here.
-
That's not really an excuse to go digging for month-old threads, I mean you really shouldn't be posting in threads past the first page of the list... :doubt:
-
 again, I'M NEW HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
When I say "I realize we all have to learn," that means I acknowledge your new-ness. Please don't yell at other members. It won't make a good impression.
Also, do what logic dictates. First page = a-okay. Not first page = not a-okay unless you're the thread starter with an update.
