Title: Transferring Saved Games
Post by: RaVen1357 on October 09, 2005, 10:42:05 pm
Hello,
I am trying to transfer my campaign progress from one computer to another. With most games this is done by moving save game files. I tried this with FS2 and I believe that I have the correct files, but it doesn't work.

The two files I moved had extensions .pl2 and .cs2 . They were all that was contained in the \\FreeSpace2\data\players\single folder. When I started FS2 on the new computer, it created a file with the extension .plr in that folder. FS2 would not recognize the .pl2 file I put there, so I renamed it .plr . Now, FS2 would recognize it, but crashes whenever I load the file.

Am I doing this right? How am I suposed to do this?

When i am remember correctly, pl2 is created by FS2_open, you need the SCP on both Computers to load your Player-File.

.pl2 is the new player-file version; it had to be upgraded in order to better support .tbl changes and using multiple campaigns at the same time with the same pilot.

IMHO that's reason enough to use the SCP. :nervous:

So, if I put Freespace Open on the new computer, that will solve the problem? I will try that.
