I really hope this remake doesn't suck. Especially since Will Ferril :ick: is playing the former nazi.

On a side note:
"I was never crazy about Hitler... If you stand on a soapbox and trade rhetoric with a dictator you never win... That's what they do so well; they seduce people. But if you ridicule them, bring them down with laughter, they can't win. You show how crazy they are."
-Mel Brooks

Matthew Broderick does not equal Gene Wilder. Ever.

On another side note:

"Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you walk into an open sewer and die." - Mel Brooks

Seriously though, I'm with you. The movie was amazingly funny and the Broadway show was absolutely hilarious. So please, please let this live up to its predecessors. Otherwise it will be a... tragedy.

They're showing it in Australia too. But I don't have time anymore to go see theatre productions like I used to... they're good fun.

Oh I do hope they don't muck it up. The original was so incredibly funny... so well timed...

Sod it, I think it's going to suck. I'm sorry but there has been a long run of remakes of old classics lately and while it's nice to see things on new technology etc. they really haven't been able to capture the feel at all.

Edit: Having watched the trailer a couple of times, I'm more certain than ever that I'm right. It looks like a carbon copy of the original film... same gags et al. Sure I'm not expecting masses of new material - but this film simply shouldn't be remade. It should be left in its perfectly good and watchable original state.

The original Producers was one of the worst movies I've ever seen-- Gene Wilder makes me want to shove Valium into him until he's dead.

Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane did a great job with the show; they can do the same with the film.

I saw the old movie a while back. One of the funniest movies ever (next to Dr. Strangelove, of course).

I agree. You obviously have no taste in humor.

producers go full circle? cool. uma as ulla, though... ah, well...

it looks like a bit bigger budget this time around too. the music parts of the old film was just about the best thing about it, really, so this might be nice. will probably not see it in theaters tho. dvd.
