Do we know? I think Sarno was a lieutenant, I'm not sure about Gibson atall.
-
I don't think the rank of either is mentioned anywhere in the game.
I did a quick grep on both names and they only appear once in Return to Babel so unless another comment refers to one of them as the lieutenant I think you can make up the rank for both of them.
-
Whee!
-
Gibson was Janitor General.
He was cleaning the john when the Shivans boarded.
Sorry, couldn't resist. :p
-
C'mon, everyone knows Gibson's rank was 'MFP Senior Patrolman'.....

There was a gibson in fs2?

Indeed. They took him, Sarno and about a dozen others.
-
In the next mission they talk about recapturing Bosch and his Lieutenants, though that might just be lingo rather than actual ranks.
-
I'm certain that was in the non-rank form of the word, myself. Aide-de-camp rank for an admiral is lieutenant commander, after all.
-
Likewise. Plus isn't lieutenant quite a low rank for what are presumably the command crew of a fleet (well, until the GTVA destroyed the NTF they were)?
-
Considering that the Iceni almost certainly would have had a captain it seems likely that either Gibson or Sarno is likely to be of that rank at least.
-
But then the guy speaking that part wasn't a high-ranking member of the Iceni's crew (or is unlikely to have been) - he was just the guy on the radio when Alpha wing showed up. Would he refer to the senior officers in that way, especially when talking to Command? Perhaps they were bridge crew, in the same place as Bosch when the Shivans hauled him off...

Nah. From the following debrief, it seems pretty clear that those taken with Bosch were high-ranking officers. Besides which, the way they mentioned Gibson and Sarno by name IMO implies the speaker expected the player (i.e. GTVA) to know those people.

Typically, an Admiral's aide-de-camp is a Flag Lieutenant, or "Flags" for short.

That rank is...well, rather defunct as of today. It used to be an actual rank, but not anymore. I frankly don't see it being reactivated for any reason.
Lieutenant commander, and/or commander, is roughly the right level for a staff job while working for an admiral. On the other hand, that's for a line admiral. As Bosch is the leader of the entire NTF, he may well have captains on his staff.
-
I don't think the implication was that these guys were staff, though, but big-wigs in their own right. I think lieutenant has a secondary meaning that, essentially, they can 'take over' from the head bloke. i.e. 2nd in command and soforth.

What was the name of that skeptic comms officer on the GTI Riviera?
-
Ensign Whatthehellisthat :D
To be honest I've got no idea. She has what could possibly be a nametag on her uniform but with my eyesight it could just as easily say Polyester :D

Jackie (http://www.descent-freespace.com/goodies/gallery/cutscenes/) Polpolion (http://www.descent-freespace.com/goodies/gallery/cutscenes/cb2013.jpg), apparently. (The same nametag appears on both models.)

< V-Adam > this is done by the types of ships he places, the weapons he arms them with, the AI "class" he gives them, and a dozen othe rthings...
< V-Adam> and there are no powerups in FreeSpace. Except for re-arming ships, which give you more weapons and repair you. This is a sim, after all. :)
< Gowron > < SuP > 3) Will the Pyro-GX appear in the game?
