Title: Star Trek: Bridge Commander
Post by: Unknown Target on October 22, 2005, 10:27:24 am
Does anyone still play this game? I just got back into it, and wow, is it fun. It's very tacitical, which explains why I didn't like it before - I kept flying like I was flying a fighter, and I wasn't taking advantage of ship maneuverability, firing arcs, etc.

Plus, on top of that, a new mod, called Kobayashi Maru (can be found on //www.bcfiles.com) includes all sorts of whiz-bang gadgets, including 50 new ships, some 5-8 new bridges, all sorts of tactical options for mulitplayer (in-system warping, AI ships in multiplayer, shuttle launching, ship to ship boarding, mine-laying, etc). Very cool...if anyone plays this game still, perhaps we could set up a HLP tourney? :D

Heh I deleted it like 2 days after I acquired it. It's not all that tactical... nothing compared to Klingon Academy. Man I miss that game, nobody plays it anymore because the graphics are nowhere near up to par anymore. But if you're interested in a tactical space sim, GET IT! I'd be happy to reinstall it if someone else wants to play.

Klingon Academy is the Shiznit! Cloaking, assualt weapons, awesome cinematics... But because it is a pain to mod it doesn't get the same boosts we get with SCP...

BC has many good points, but the stock ships look like crap and the game is serverly limited, you need the mods to make it enjoyable.

I have had it for a long time but haven't touched it after one too many fixes/additions caused the whole thing to crap out on me.

I'm waititng till Apollo finishes tech3 and then I will reinstall from scratch. Once they get all the bugs worked out  I will invest the time in playing it. Sorta like how I avoid all the FSopen builds inbetween official releases, I dont want to use something that's broke and will just get me frustrated when I got things to do.

BC2 was started right after BC so it should be in late stages by now.

I've played BC and it was good and fun. But if I remember correctly, I couldn't pass one mission, got frustated and uninstalled it.
