I'm interested in trying my hand at a little 3d modeling and animation. However, I don't feel like making a whole bunch of stuff from scratch, especially trying to make a decent looking human. Ideally, I would like simple models of a man and a woman that I could then adjust and tweak into different characters (eg. move a few vertices around to adjust proportions). Game quality models will do just fine as long as they're detailed enough to have a modeled face that I can adjust. I plan to model clothes/armor myself so I'd like the model unclothed, also having the model rigged would be a plus but I can rig it myself if I have to. If no one has any models like this then could you at least point me in the direction of some tutorials on how to make what I want. Thank you.

I have a (fairly crude; first attempt) modelled body, but I'd advise checking the tutorials at http://www.comet-cartoons.com, as it's always a lot easier just to do it yourself (means when you find problems or whatever, it's easier to understand them).
This - http://67.15.36.49/ffa/tutorials/max/joanofarc/joanmenu.asp - is also a very good tutorial. Although I've not yet tried that one.....

More recent versions of MAX come with generic people models.

I can't afford MAX and I'd rather not pirate it. However, if you happen to have it and wouldn't mind giving me some of these models I'd greatly appreciate it.
