Well, I'm at university now (the reason for my disappearance for a while), and the city I'm at (Bath) is rather attractive. It's all Georgian, and everything's built out of Bathstone (a kind of limestone IIRC), which means it looks rather nice. So I thought I'd grab some pics and post 'em up for you to see. Enjoy. :)
First up, this is Pulteney Bridge. One of the few (possibly the only) remainging bridges of it's type in the UK, with buildings actually on top of it.

This street (I've stupidly forgotten the name of it) is one of the widest in the UK, and the buildings have seven stories (two entirely underground). Very, very expensive place to live.

This is a view of the Empire Hotel from across the river (the bridge is just out of shot to the right, past the weir). The abbey is also visible on the left.

A pic of the abbey. This building has that "loom-factor" - it looks much bigger than it actually is. Rather impressive. I'll have to get pics of the inside as well some day...

A random church. The lamppost spoils the composition of this shot rather nicely, doesn't it? :doubt: Still, nice bit of masonry.

The rest of the pics are here (http://photobucket.com/albums/c297/alun-bath-pics/) for those of you who are interested. Mostly just some alternative angles of what's above. Pretty stuff though.
Anyway, that's it - just thought I'd share these with you all. :)

Nice place. Looks a bit like a small version of Edinburgh. Sort of.
-
What a beautiful city... I really should visit the place some time.
-
Who is the bird at the bus stop? ;)
-
I wish I knew... :D
-
Ah, taking pictures of random women. You could probably go on a register for that these days...
-
Someone tell that to the people putting cameras on cellphones, then......

Lamppost? What lamppost??

The thing on the right hand side; y'know, the big post with the lamp on it.

Tch. Wish Toronto had more old architecture, as opposed to identical glass skyscrapers. That's why Europe is still "it" in my eyes.
Nice pictures though, you've got an eye for photography pyro.
-
You think? Cheers. :)
And yes, old buildings rock. Though I'm developing a worrying fixation for early C20th architecture at the moment (Woolworth building, Rockefeller Centre, Chrysler building etc). But then building something like that nowadays would be obscenely expensive, let alone full-on Gothic-style stuff...
-
Wait...that street up there is one of the widest in the UK? :wtf: No wonder why you people had to resort to things like Smart Cars! :p
-
That and they're a damned good idea.
-
and we like our gasguzzlers so wed never switch over
beautiful place though, where in England is that?

Hell, a Tonka truck looks tougher than one of those things. They're like glorified Power Wheels. :p Not to mention the fact that they look like they'd crumple like a tin can in a collision with anything bigger than a bread box.
(And yes, muscle cars = teh win :) God, how I'd love to own an '05 Mustang...)
On a more on-topic note, since I started taking a history of architecture class this semester, I've really come to appreciate beautiful buildings. That church is a really impressive piece of work.

I still don't see it.

In the forground next to the traffic cone?

It seems to have activated a cloaking device between the original picture and the one Sandwich posted.
You can see its outline if you focus on Sandwich's picture.
Edit: Oh, and the guy in the right side of the 4th picture, with a red jacket, looks suspicious to me. :p
-
If that's your doing Sandwich, hats of to you sir.

Well, I think that says it all, really... :p

Yep. They don't make 'em like that any more...
WMC: He's one of those pesky touristy types, by the look of things...
Sandwich: You obviously have far too much time on your hands. :p
Hammer: It's Bath, in Somerset. A bit south-east of Bristol.
Here, in fact:

Oooh, you cheating person, you.
(that piccy wasn't loading when I replied, BTW)
Can't believe that street is one of the widest. Unless they mean for individual lanes, and the parking spaces are included in that.
-
I dunno - it's just what the guy who was giving us the tour said (physics lecturer, so he might have been talking rubbish). All I know is, it's bloody wide. The pavements are about 5 metres each by themselves.

 That's just weird. Stealthed lamposts :)

Not weird. A lot of stoplights around where I live tend to do the same thing.
-
Usually the ones with a police patrol on the other side, no doubt? :D

Oh please, no... lampposts are some of the easiest things to photoshop out of pictures. Them and phone or power lines. :D
