AS you may or may not know, there is an excellent Finnish movie parodying B5 and Star Trek (the movie can be downloaded free of charge from //www.starwreck.com).
I'd like to know whether or not there is a way to get some Star Trek models to be used on TBP, to create missions where could be ships from both series. Well, of course that can be done... but what I'm asking here is whether or not it is even modaretely easy thing to do... Some models do already exist, of course. Only things to modify would be names on textures - It would look stupid if it stood NCC-1701-E on craft that is supposed to be C.P.P. Potkustart, and it would also disturb me if it read "United Federation of Planets" instead of "P-Liitto" on ships...
So, simple answer: Can this be done with relative ease? Other thing needed for real Star Wreck mission would be the Victory class destroyer, commanded by mr.Festerbester, but that could really wait, the most important thing would be to get some Trek models available for TBP missions.
And those who still haven't seen the movie: go and get it. For free, et is an excellent movie and it's more than match for most commercial movies. Well, the Emperor's acting skills are what they are, but you must accept that, I guess... I do recommend it to all who haven't already seen it.
Those who know what SW6 is about... what do you think, would you be interested in playing a mission or a few involving P-Fleet? Please tell me if I'm the only sick mind here who thinks things like this...
And as always, thanks for great job. BTW, I won't be very dissappointed if you just tell me that no, it can't be made very easily and no, you have no time for that. I completely understand if that is how it is. It's just that I have noticed that there are several Finns involved to TBP, and that at least they might be interested in making this possible, but I can't know for sure - that's why I'm asking.

Hmmm.... downloads movie.. Um ponders if its in english or not. :)
I have no idea what they think here, but its probably, strickly, Babylon 5 :D Not that it would bother me, i`m a B5 fan anyway.

Learn to mod, look for Omniscaper's Star Trek conversions, and it should be trivial. I don't know how easy it'll be to change the registry on Omni's ships (or even if it's possible, for that matter) but otherwise it's a relatively simple process. That's been one of Freespace's greatest advantages over the years; it's exceptionally easy to tinker with.

Yeah...
The trouble is, I'm not likely to have the time to do the actual modding myself. My studies take quite a lot of my time, so for now I must settle for throwing ideas to those who have will, time and abilities. I have, however, a feeling that most people involved in TBP are too busy to do others than strictly B5 related things with TBP, like you said. But you never know before trying.
Perhaps some day when I'll have more free time (ultimately summer) I'll learn to meddle with these things. Right now I have to learn Java, physics and mathematics so I'll hardly have time to expand my gaming to modding.
Actually I think the modding itself wouldn't take so much time, like you said, but it's rather the process of learning to mod that takes time and dedication...
And as for the language spoken in movie: It'll not be in English but in Finnish instead, so be sure to download the English-subtitled version, which is easily found at the download site (http://www.starwreck.com/download.php).
The High Quality (english subtitles) is the one you'll want. The torrent will have enough peers, i daresay: I did a little test and after a minute, my BitTorrent had already found 18 peers to download and was downloading with 79 KB/s and increasing, with ETD 2:18 minutes.
There are mirrors for direct download, of course, so it's ultimately your call which method to use.

Instead of draining the FS2 communities already megre resources why not try posting this on the Star Wreck forums (I'm sure they have them)
Over 600,000 people downloaded the movie so at least some of them have to be capable of doing this.
Simply grab some pictures of Omniscapers ships and TBP in action and suggest making a mod. I'm certain you'd definately get someone to write a plotline for you so all you'd need would be people to do the (relatively minor) texture work you need and someone willing to write the missions in FRED.
It's a nice idea. I just think you're asking the wrong people :) If you're lucky you might even get some interest from the people behind the film itself :)

I think you're right. But, should there be someone interested in here, I'll be posting almost similar thread at http://forum.starwreck.com/viewforum.php?f=2.
Let's see how they react...
