Description by Plasma, model and render by me, design based on the Vektor CP-1.
This standard arms pistol to GTA marines looks like your every day pretty little pea-shooter, however the Ruteger 705B doubles as a lethal weapon. The power, accuracy, weight, rate of fire, flexibility, and reliability of the Ruteger has made it the standard pistol of the GTA for 26 years, now. Mostly recruits enjoy the usage of this gun as it's one of the most ergonomic, easy to use weapons in their available arsenel. Seasoned veterans often prefer the HG6000 -- a pistol with added weight and firepower.
Now go check the Freespace: FSP Website (//"http://redfaction.volitionwatch.com/fsfps")!

I have to get RedFaction!

I like it! Looks like it should be in Aliens Vs Predator as someones personal weapon (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

No, the design is too bio. Alien tech is square. That's more a Final Fantasy gun (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) (I have to stop with final fantasy, I know)

Technically, Aliens is post-modern.... ie if it looks like you could find it in a modern military base, it's Aliens-esque. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
Oh, and the blue looks nice, but ditch it. Same with the specular highlights. A military weapon should be dull, a shiny object attracts the eye.

Beautiful job (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) Just a couple o' things? I agree with Shrike, make it less shiny - though it does look pretty cool with reflection.
And try (just a suggestion (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)) to give it a bit of texture. I don't know whether it would be better or worse, I would just like to see it. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) Bump-mapping with a tiled map, maybe?
Oh, and it fires bullets, right? Where does the cartridge fit? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
Yeah, it looks nice shiny, but the thing is, it's not smart... and any soldier would coat the thing in gunblack to kill the shine.
-
i could make a nice chipped paint texture for that (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
------------------
I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired!!
-
I don't think chipped paint is right either.... that's normally a symptom of poor weapons maintenance. Just some kinds of dull polycarbonate high-impact plastic that you can launch out of a cannon and it won't break sounds about right.

Yeh, that sounds good. And you have to be able to whack people over the head with it. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Shrike's argument
I'm a sticker for detail and a bit of a milnut.

Gonna get us one of these, Styxx boy? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Looks pretty cool Styxx. But it reminds me of a toy gun/soft air gun to much.
Pez

what makes you think most gtva soldiers would have the resources for good weapons maintenance?
Ahh..cant wait for my..errr..order..to arrive.
then i can start making some people of me own (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Hm, huh, I forgot to say that it's not finished yet. I didn't add some of the safety locks, didn't add the clip detail, didn't add the handgrip detail, and didn't really worked on textures - just applied the good old "Plain Metal" map to it and rendered. I'll post here when I have worked more on it.
And that other one is next on my weapons list. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

I like the design and the idea. It's good that someone is interested in this aspect of FS that was never developed. Hats off peoples (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Hey! I'm the one who wrote the description! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I can't wait till it comes out to see what you guys did with it. Everything looks to be really well thought out and fun. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

anyway..how the hell could anyone make a plasma tokamak small enough to fit in a clip?
------------------
I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired!!
-
The Tokomak is really only for fusion- plasma is just very very hot gas, so in that gun you'd have to have some kind of heating device and magnetic containment fields, plus magnetic acceleration coils etc. In fact, it'd need a hella high amount of energy.
-
the tokamak is needed to contain the plasma.
the idea in initiating fusion is that the plasma fusing in the tokamak generator produces more power than is needed to confine it.
I cant possibly see how it would work in a handgun..by far the best idea ive yet seen is the heated plastic plasma gun from deus ex...which would be a big, fat brute anyway.
i can imagine some kind of disposable bullet that vapourises itself on launch..but that wouldnt go straight, air resistance would make it wobble around.
arrgh!
im thinking too much!

bullet pistol maybe? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/rolleyes.gif)

In the FS cutscenes we see projectile based weaponry with grenade launchers used. (no the Shivan does not explode as Mr. Adam Pletcher has said)
Remind you, that this is before FS1.
The Ruteger is a standard pistol type weapon firing it's projectile at an extremely high velocity.
Remember that it is technology several hundred years beyond ours, and it's a very high powered weapon.
As for the bullets themselves, they're sleek and designed for maximum penetration and areodynamics, the material is more then likely a form of degenerate matter such as crushed molybdenum.
These details aren't as important though, and folks like Ornaj, Plaz, and myself are still working them out through heated arguements whether Vasudans carpet their rooms with tongues or army boots (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Nice! (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/thumb.gif)
We could port it to Shock when it's finished. Just have to lower that poly count down to... 3. (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif)
