The guys at babylon project said halfway through last year that the EA Civil War campaign was well underway. I have also heard many rumours to the effect that it is now released. So my questions are: has it been released, and if so where do i get it?
-
Unfortunately, EACW campaign is at halt right now. Reason? Simply not enough people interested on working with it.
-
thanks for the quick reply
i'd be glad to help, but unfortunately i have no skills in modelling or scripting, and only very limited skills using FRED.
-
What's really needed is someone to organize the project and assign tasks to people. Without that person there's not much point in doing anything on it. :)
-
That is project leader's and project co-leader's job, unfortunately the team is bit of a loose gun at the moment. Well, I hope it gets sorted out in the near future.

*Pulls finger out of a**e*
I'm getting things organize as we speak.;)

brilliant! if there's something i can do, i will (not very much i can do, but it's the thought, ay?)
sigma957, whereabouts in australia are you? i live near melbourne.

I live near Adelaide mate.:)

I dont know whats the latest on the co-authors... but eventually Ill get a crush on the latest missions and write them.
How about making the Civil War campaign a public project ?
Normally, projects are kept in a small team, so they can delight in the enthusiasm of the people who play the stuff that is all new to them.
Civil Wr campaign is BIG, and that may not be possible here. I vote we make the infamous CIVIL WAR CAMPAIGN website available to the public , and Sigma957 takes over it.
There you will find news on recent developments, and you can even read all the scripts.
Spoiling protection is achieved via... size. It just takes a LOT of time to read through all the scripts, and people who just "walk by" may not have the patience to do so. The ones who DO may impregnate themselves with a crush on the campaign, and eventually help along to get it finished.
I think at first we need FREDDERS who make the missions , we could need some artists who take care of the backgrounds and who have a talent to arrange them in FRED . I have seen early civil war missions that worked, but somehow didnt have the right "feeling".
Don`t be impressed by its size , compensate with inner team communication !

EACW is a huge project as is, if it would become a public project, development would be quite difficult to organize and manage properly. If there is enough interest, I'd suggest having a serious internal discussion about it first.

I feel tempted to say this. I only saw one episode of B5 before it was taken off the air. Care to know which episode? Well... it was the start of the EA civil war! Imagine that, the very first episode, and last, I saw was the start of the civil war and I became an instant fan and then it was taken off. If the Civil war campaign is made and finished, well... lets just say that I would be forever thankful.

I can write, voice act and do a little bit of FRED'in (mainly placing things, backgrounds, loadouts, everything bar scripting really...). Dunno how much help I could be at this stage.
-
Keep coming here Azrael as we will eventually need voice actors. :D:D
-
Some friends and co-modders say I have a movie quality voice acting but... I sound too young for B5 to be of any help.
-
Healthy portions of Acts 1 and 2 of the Civil War campaign have been worked on (maybe 8-10 missions in a testable state), but until lately there's been only one person to both FRED and test. Also, given that it's a 5 or 6 act campaign, some time will elapse before it comes out. If you know what I mean.
-
Lots of hard work to be done... Now I wish I knew how to use FRED 100%.
-
Check the FRED Academy stuff in my FAQ. We'll teach you how to use FRED in return for you making a particular B5 mission for us. Primus got hired for the TBP based on the mission he made for the academy so it's a good opportunity to show off your skills too :)

When that time comes, you will know.
And yes, I will be as *****y as Black Sheep is when it comes to voice actors.
So there will be auditions, there will be tears. And by god, those who get in, they shall feel as they would be on Z'ha'dum.

@Vengence
I recommend the FA. :nod:
@Kara
I never get tired for being used for FA promotion. :p
@DarkBlade
Good. Scare them all away. ;)
-
I knew you wouldn't mind Primus :)
-
Right. First I'll need to actually make a mission first.
-
Check out the FAQ. The beauty of the Academy is we already have a good plotline laid out so you don't have to risk your single mission spinning off into a whole campaign that never gets completed. :)
Sadly I don't have the time to playtest and improve just any old mission so I can only test missions that are one of the FA campaign missions.
