Title: An Experiment of Sorts - A revival of something long dead... (not TAS)
Post by: Kamikaze on April 16, 2002, 09:02:59 pm
Okay as the title says, I have decided on reviving an old (working for a while but failed) thing. This 'thing' is the HLPchat IRC channel which was occupied by some of the older members of the community.
So, I'm seeing if anybody is interested.

HLPCHAT
irc.sorcery.net
#Hardlight

And also, if this starts detracting people from HLP or being unproductive I'll scrap it  This might also be used for recruitment.... maybe ;)

so cheers :)

hmmmm :bump:
Sorry, I just had to :D
Anyways, I will try to stay on 24/7 but either mIRC is a very bad client or the server keeps kicking me off during the night... anyways Logger will be in there as close to 24/7 as Logger can and Shi will be operating from time to time...
And as to how this works - got here www.mirc.com or even better: www.xircom.com to get an IRC client and then log into server irc.sorcery.net and do this: /join #hardlight. Also remember to register your nickname (for help type /nickserv help)

NTL capped mine at like 90 (given optimal conditions) but I've had it up as high as 120 on KaZaA somehow. I've heard if you plug the white cable into the NTL TV port instead of the broadbands FM port, you get 2Mb/s but my TV port is too far away to try (and feasibly use if true).

I need to try that just as an experiment; my cable TV (TV and internet run off the same provider) port is not anywhere nearby wither but I have an extra cable that could probably reach over there. The only problem is that my parents might not like a thick data cable going right over the kitchen floor to the nearest port. :p :D

How much does it cost over there? I get mine for $40/month, which isn't too bad. (standard 56k ISPs are typically around $20/month)

The main reason i dont have broadband with NTL. They wont settle for your internet connection, they want to take everything from you.

Major currency ha, it'll be the downfall of those europeans. One interest rate etc, doesnt work unless its one state.

:doubt: If you read/seen the latest marketing news you know that the Euro is almost as much as a Dollar...And the UK must some day follow and also use the euro.

Judging by the first part of your post you obviously don't. If they tried to oust the pound there'd be ****ing HUGE riots.

Riots over a ****ing valuta...The Guilder was just as presius as the pound and you don't see riots here. Anyway why would you think the UK doesn't transfer to th euro, i think they proberly must switch to the euro in the next 10/15 years.

It is a simple fact that the BNP has much power in Britain and that British peeps are fiercly nationalist. Anyone trying to kill the pound would be commiting political suicide.
