'nuff said!!!

The glow on the Trajan looks... weird. I think its the ring that makes it look like that. And isn't the beam movement faster. But the hell with that, they look COOL
   !

I posted this in the Node War forum too, but just in case: Remember, wEvil, we switched the design you have listed as the Star Knight to being the design for the Nike. This pic is the one we're using for the Star Knight:

I gotta get some kind of HTML up (it doesnt help I suck at web design) to keep them happy.

Its such a...liberating feeling to be able to post animations and stuff up though :)

In terms of the trajans' beams, Nodewar beams are slightly different and the warmup period is about right since heavy beams are BFred-levels of damage (FS2 ships wouldnt last long in NW...not with all the powergaming, anyway!)

The glows i spent about four hours tweaking around...but the model maybe needs some more work...more greebles etc.

The Nike ship i basically remodelled over Greys' mesh and extruded/bevelled faces, and put a white texture in with some glow...ill get around to redoing it with a more sensible layout when I get some time.

The parallax carrier is finished...prolly wont do anything else with it until i need to.

Anyway...atm its finishing the Trajan, Angelic Dance Neo-iuprah ship, then the Irae and a tessie esthar.

A Heavy Beam cannon is equal to a Bgreen.

A medium beam is equivalent to a bgreen, end of story.

A heavy beam is equivalent to a "large green beam" (forgot the abbreviation) it is *not* equivalent to a BFRED.

Its ether BFGreen or its long range cousin, the LRBGreen.

Ill get on it as soon as I can - dont want to post anything up until i've actually finished them though.

Oh - and try to keep them from spreading.  the last thing I want is some skank beating me to a job with my models :(

*additional*

Oh yea...you will need a beast of a machine to run most of them.  When i Said high-poly I wasn't kidding around and my machine has trouble with most of them!

More stuff I did in the past two days.  I still havent' got a decent way of making any shape yet but be assured, i'm still working on your designs and when they look good enough i'll post them up.

early version of first AVI - mpeg4 as well.

Dear god, that's very impressive! Excellent job!

(One small thing, the beams on the top Trajen in the image don't reach the edge of the screen - looks more like four light-sabers that beams...
Title: Nodewars Teaser Material
Post by: wEvil on May 29, 2002, 10:33:32 am
That's a limitation in the MAX renderer.  By default it fades out glows towards the edge of the screen as they're only lens effects, not actual volumics, after all.  The only way around it is to render the image larger then crop each frame individually.

If I ever get to a production level with this thats' what i'll do but at the moment there's little point.

Please don't link to AVI, MP3 and EXE files.

These extensions are restricted by Smartfilter :(

ZIP = SUPER ! :D
Title: Nodewars Teaser Material
Post by: wEvil on May 31, 2002, 08:47:17 am
No point in zipping a Divx AVI because the file would be larger, not smaller.

The only thing that would work would be a RAR archive, but again theres no point.

a DIVX encoded avi is about as small as it will get, and i'm not sacrificing image quality.  I find it SO annoying whenever i waste about half an hour of my times downloading an AVI file and all I see is a bunch of blocks because someone put download time and size over the quality.  Graphics are there to be seen - and if you can't see them the way they are intended to be then its all kind of pointless, don't you think?

Im on 56k as well, BTW.

I do not talk about zipping and size. I'm only saying that smartfilter (at work) is checking file extensions, and MP3, AVI and exe files are not allowed to be downloaded.

It's only the extension which should be different...;)
