Yeah, apart from the dude (reminds me of the Riviera Station test renders), that looks really cool.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

im working on it  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

my big problem is the complexity of the scenes..im either going to have to split it all up into render passes or upgrade my computer something chronic to do anything with this model now :P

anyway...heres a pez-style skylight of the havok  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

its a little bright but the way the max connection to mentalray works makes it very hard to balance the lighting correctly.

ok, Mrs. Tor'h, i'll need your captains' license and a retina scan, plus a 512bit GTVA security council checksum.

After that your order will be placed with our subcontractors and you should expect to take delivery of your new Havok class dreadnought in 2 years.

Please remember that we are in NO WAY responsible for your actions while piloting this craft, and if you happen to destroy a few civilisations the responsibility is entirely up to you.

Have a nice day  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

That pic looks nice, some of the earlier renders had the odd wire coil arrays sticking out which didn't seem very FS-like.

The only problem I see with the "Welcome aboard captain" render is that the GTVA in FS1/FS2 is nuts about using transports and airlocks, and glass tubes are rather fragile.(if the tube is explained as a sort of "super alloy" then why isn't the entire ship made out of it?  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif))

Anyhow, I hope the docking ports for the FS animated series will be done FS-style. (with Elysiums or a replacement docking, or landing in the bay, etc.)

If you need storyboard design help, etc. Feel free to ask since I should have enough time to bounce some ideas arround  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

the tube is artificial diamond, the reason the ship isnt made out of it is the fact that diamond is a little transparent to focused eletromagnetic radiation and can suddenly combust when put under focused sunlight :P

i havent decided what the hull material is...im currently researching a few alloy combinations to see what i can feasably come up with.

Then why risk the crew within that deathtrap cube when two transports doing a good old fashion docking won't risk anyone's life?  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

let say it's not a glass tube, it's a normal tunnel with screens, n'ah! jsut put a metalic structure around it, with the one sided map, from the inside it will still look like a glass tube shwing the dark coldness of space (oh, that's soooo beautiful  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) )
