Another new creation (finishing that vasudan thing has not been high on my to-do list, as I can't get the turrets to look right). Anyway, here is my new civilian station, measuring in at over 6km in each dimension.

also, ingame pics here (http://www.geocities.com/cek_83/stationview.html).

you still interested in staying with the 158th there StratComm?
-
WOW! Thread derailed on the first reply! Nice work Narol!
anyway, great model there, what purpose does it serve? some sort of trade hub?
-
Reminds me of something I started work on a while back
(http://homepage.ntlworld.com/karajorma/freespace/images/PirateBase.jpg)
I like it. What are you planning to use it as?
-
Dear God, I hope you change those textures.
Otherwise not bad. Might I recommend making each of those fins a different model; have one a fighterbay, make one a cruiser-sized repair bay, one a capship docking arm, leave one as is for living quarters, etc. Give each arm a different function.
-
If you are refering to mine, then I think I should clarify something about those arms. The top fins, the blue ones, are a rotating model. I'm currently playing with the rotation value to make it suitable. The lit area in the underside contains the fighterbays, and the lower three arms are docking arms. The station would be used as a colony station, thus the city inside. The rotating fins could be for industrial purposes, where increased gravity could have its uses, or as sensor panels, or just for looks. The rest of the hull, for the most part, would be used by civilians for living space, with the best real estate on the station would be around the inner wall, where the windows face in to the city, or in the towers within the dome. And a note on the dome; you can't fly inside the city because of a huge invisible face. You can shoot through it, but that can't be helped; it is supposed to be glass or something so that you can see within the city itself. The station is big (see the link in the first post for comparison pics) though I may scale it down a little bit, but for its purpose as a colony station it needs to be huge.
-
Some of the outer textures could use work (looks too colorful compared to the FS styling), but the model is very good.
Also, is there something inside that Setekh-shaped window thing? I think I can make out some kind of structures in there...
-
There's a city inside the dome. You can't fly there, but you can see (and shoot at) the buildings with ease. Look at the last two ingames (check the link at the bottom of the first post) to get a better idea of what's there. And the green may be too much. I'll put that to red and see how that goes over.
-
Change your textures, StratComm. Otherwise, NICE JOB!
-
I don't think it's the colors that matter. The textures just don't show enough differentiation.
-
It looks too simplistic - vary your textues some more, put some rotating sensor dishes on (Turrets too, but since it's civillian it probably won't have many) a communications blister, sensor domes, whatever. Just add some detail. Looks like a lod 2 or 3 ATM.
-
I agree the colors are too bright, and maybe some outside detail would be nice, but I think it's awesome.
I would leave the colors the same, just make 'em a few shades darker.
Give..... NOW.

what are all those other ships in the ingame shots? Can I D/L them anywhere?
-
Try my sig :D
They are the GTD Raynor, GTDn Archangel, and GTCa Phoenix.

Looks quite a neat design. :)

very B5-esque....*thinking of the passenger liners*
-
As you know, I love your design as always Stratt, but please change the Textures and Colors and add some "goodies" to the outer hull..
Maybe City stuff. . blisters and stuff. :)
-
Hmm... :drevil:
If you gave that thing Borg textures it would look just like the thing that pops out of someone's skin when they've just been assimilated... (c.f. ST:First Contact)
-
I think it would be hurled at other ships as some sort of Ninja death star.

ouch that really hurt... lol...
honestly the model is good, the outside texture is a lil bit off freespace ish (unless it suppose to be post-freespace being as how alot of mods are going these days), but i would love to use that baby as a city or something.... reminds me of what would look like a factory instilation (with the right textures)...
