Title: Not a request, but an oddity - can someone explain?
Post by: SadisticSid on March 11, 2003, 01:04:04 pm
I've been experiencing some strange problems when using a total conversion lately. Simply put, hostile capships don't seem to use their beam cannons most of the time when they're beam-freed. Friendlies seem to have no problem with this.

This seems to occur randomly. Mostly when I run a mission no hostile beams fire at all during its course. But occassionally everything works properly, and by that I do mean everything - all ships fire as they should. Even more strangely, it seems only to affect certain ships (perhaps models) - a Shivan corvette, for example, won't fire, but a beam bomber seems to work 100% of the time. Changing the team to neutral or unknown, and setting the 'all teams at war' flag has no effect.

Can anyone shed some light on this (it seems to occur in all versions of FS2, including the SCP builds)?

Sid.

I don't know how I fixed it, but the problem was definitely in the weapons.tbl file. But I'm curious nevertheless...
