Title: preview: family Denaga
Post by: PeachE on May 31, 2004, 05:05:08 pm
okay, my latest attempt at a comic book like story. imo, some of my best work. anyway, here's the cover and the first page (all that is done so far). the cover isn't quite done. i need to get rid of the white border and there was a rider in the bottom left, but i couldn't make the styles match.

btw, "Lucifer's Bow" is the name of a series of short stories i've written. "family Denaga" is the first, followed by "the fall", "dragon" and "the Churchgoer". they were my first attempt at a fantasy. i don't know why it never occurred to me to illustrate them. but i like where it's going so far.

The background on the cover, IMO, needs to be darker. As does the page background outside the cells.

But I suppose that's just a matter of personal preference, me having been spoiled by Spawn comics and all.....

peache is that really you. i remember you from the VBB, one of the big posters there, you even started warpstorm.com if i remebers you correctly.

and as for your comic, it looks really awesome, just remeber to post other parts of that comic strip here, i want to read it, sound really intriguing

i'll consider making it darker an0n when i make the changes. it is a pretty dark series of stories, so it would be appropriate.

and yeah, windrunner, i'm from the VBB. but heretic started warpstorm.com. i was just one of the co-founders.

glad you like it :) i'll post pieces as they're finished. but since i estimate the first story to be over 50 illustrated pages, i'm not sure how much will be posted or if i'll ever try to get them printed.

the stories take place on three planes: heaven, earth and varuskan. this story takes place on varuskan is about a lord who finds the bow and, like lucifer, starts a war with his king.

....to be continued?

Looks kinda cool. As long as we get to see Lucifer assault Heaven with the bow.

sorry. this story doesn't deal with that. there's only one more page about the heavenly plane in this book and it only shows the battle from a distance. one of the sequels goes into it in much more depth. it'll show up then if i illustrate those as well.

peachE, do yourself a favor and get on an online comics service like Keenspace, it needs good artists like yourself

that, and it's a good way to get works "out there" and it's an established community..

Jetmech, i'm finalizing the base sketch for page two now. my guess is a day for coloring since it's a simpler page. after that, i'm guessing if should average about a page or more a week.

Turnsky, what is Keenspace? i'm actually pretty new to online art and don't know of many art commnunities. get on icq sometime so i can ask you some questions.

What size do you do these sketches in?

Great work, as always. I really cannot say anything to fault it.

it's one of mine, but i haven't named it yet. i'll probably  just call it Denaga.

the original sketches are in a legal pad, i'm guessing the size of the sketches are somewhere around 8x10. the original digital pictures are 9x12 at 300 dpi so that's 2700x3600pixels (so the comic will be printable later). they're resized to have height 1024 so that i can post them on the web.

okay, i don't think i'm quite finished with page 2. the blood seems misshapen and i'm not really happy with the way frames 2 and 3 connect to the rest of the piece. but here's what i have so far.

Ah yes, excellent work yet again, except for one thing: I dont so much see a problem with the shape of the blood as the color. It should be a darker red.
