Well it's me again
I was just pondering on this question:
Whats your favorite type of music\genre
Here comes question #2
whats your favorite song of the genre?
i am just slighty curious to what you guys would say
-
apparently it seems totally unfathomable to you that someone might actually listen to classical music or jazz, so there you are.
From the choices I'm given, I listen to rock the majority of the time, punk rock or metal mostly, with some lighter stuff thrown in for good measure. No favorite song to speak of, too many stuff to choose from (of recent things some estonian songs spring to mind, keane's somewhere only we know, evanescence, tool, so on and so forth).
I do state, that Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue is probably the best piece of music written in the last 100 years.
-
punk, but I enjoy all different kinds of music. From Blues to classical.
-
im sorry i must be brainless i did not think of classical jazz or even country
sorry

This answer your question?

I like Rock, but not just any rock. There are several "genres" that are called Rock, but are not.
Heres what I do not listen to
"soft rock": Coldplay and Dave Matthews fall under this category, which contains all the groups that fore some reason think that they are rock, but are not
"Emo": do i need to explain?
"Bad Rock/Grunge": I just don't see the music in it, though i do occasionally enjoy Nirvana
Heres what i enjoy listning to:
Shinedown
Godsmack
LostProphets
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Old Metallica
Pearl Jam
Linkin Park
Old Hoobastank (and JustOne off the new album)
Old Incubus (the new stuff since Morning View just isnt good)
Beatles
Best song? Its a tie between two Shinedown songs:
Fly from the Inside
-and-
Stranger Inside
-
Out of the options? Rock. But I'm also partial to hip-hop (Beastie Boys), Trance / Techno and Classical (which you forgot...)
Of course there's exceptions to the rule - for the most part though, Rock.
-
Oh yeah, I also listen to techno from time-to-time. Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, U96, all good stuff.
Hate trance with a passion. And RHCP for that matter.
-
Hoo-haa, anything that's good. Though at the moment on a very metal spin after being completely blown away by a triumvirate of Machine Head, Slipknot and Slayer live within the space of two hours. I'll listen to anything that seems to genuiely come from the heart because to me that's true art and what music should be about.
-
Slipknot? You gotta be kiddin' me....
Oh well, I suppose I could listen to that. Probably not voluntarily, but still...
-
01010: did you go to donnington?
lets see for me it would be:
Metallica (new and old -- Load/reload is good for doing homework)
Iron Maiden
Iced Earth (espically the Barlow albums)
Slayer
Megadeth
Ozzy/Black Sabbath
I'd like to get some Shadows Fall and In Flames, but i don't really care for the death-metal type vocals, but the guitar work is first-rate
-
I'm sure there's a few embaressing ones in there!

I did and I had the best ****ing weekend ever. Slayer were moved from the main stage to one of the tents and were quite frankly incredible, the sight of a normally quarter full tent, packed to bursting (five-ten people deep outside) all going absolutely ape**** to Raining Blood, is something that will stick with me for the rest of my life.

See, heres the rub, I know I'm supposed to hate Slipknot because it's all the generic "My life sucks blah blah blah" bull****, but they are a ****ing fantastic live band and get the crowd going like madmen, which is the reason I go to festivals really.
I think I need to trim my playlist...
-
Rock - Jazz - Classical - Metal - Foreign
-
I'm a huge classic rock fan, (Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Boston, etc.) and I'm into techno, classical, and J-Pop. And a pinch of modern rock on the side. I absolutely cannot stand rap, and am not too interested in punk/ska/emo (and all the subgenres) either.
Oh and movie soundtracks, I like those too.
Here's my playlist (http://unidan.stickserv.net/other/uniamp.html).. needs a little more organizing. I'll take a day sometime this summer and do that. ^^; Blah, stupid people who don't tag their songs well enough.. Note that not all of those songs are in mp3 format. I have songs in several formats including ogg, vqf, and umx. Not wma though, the windows media format just blows big colorful huge chunks of microsoft crapiness, and those I can easily convert to mp3..
And picking a favorite song out of all the music I like is extremely hard. My top ten picks are probably:
1.) Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
2.) Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
3.) Blind Guardian - Battlefield
4.) Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
5.) Boston - More Than A Feeling
6.) John Lennon - Imagine
7.) The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again
8.) The Doors - Peace Frog/Blue Sunday
9.) Edgar Winter Group - Frankenstein
10.) Led Zeppelin - Achilles' Last Stand
-
holy crap my song length is almost 6 minutes on average
-
I love soundtracks, from movies, shows, video games and whatnot. Within that I prefer more classical or orchestrated done music.
Fav Music for that? Hard to say... Here's my playlist (http://www.mts.net/~jmsrmr/narfin/AxemsMP3s.html) (Recently trimmed down, ID3 tags all neatly redone), and that doesn't include the 24 hours of SNES music compressed into <10MB. ;)
-
I hate to say it but you guys have some small playlists. :D With the exception of 01010 that is.
Gnutella is your friend.
-
Forgot about the html playlist feature in winamp.

-
I like Punk and Emo mostly, none of which appear to be voting options :hopping:

Well, yeah, I wouldn't know, since we get only about two foreign artists a year in this quiet middle o' nowhere.
-
Goddamn, Maeg, your playlist is a mess.
I demand that you spend a week sorting out the ID3 tags and then alphbetising it. :p

Sucks to be you dude, I'd hate that. Live music is the best way to experience music for me at least.
Also, the thing is with my playlist is that I'm willing to bet that at least three quarters of it is music I actually own and haven't just downloaded, I still have a load of CD's that I haven't gotten around to putting on yet.
-
indeed, but that doesn't mean we don't have local artists that are actually good. A damn few, I grant you that, but we do have enough of 'em to fill a good couple' o weekends a month.
-
if you can go to sweden, gothenburg has some crazy stuff going on.

Probably not all that representative of what I buy, tho....I've got something like 80 CDs stashed away, most of which I haven;t ripped onto mp3 for space reasons.
-
i listen to pretty much all different types. whatever sounds good.
-
"looks at poll"
I like the two first entries, the rest I hate ( and are all classified as either rap or techno crap to me ).
That's like the poorest choices selection ever.
-
Techno, rock, acid, trance, metal, pop, some classical, some IDM, some jazz, some blues. And of course MU.
-
actually my favorite song ever is probably....yes this is quite embarrassing....poison, every rose has it's thorn. favorite when flying freespace 2....anything where alex van halen is doing a drum solo, or respect the wind, by eddie and alex van halen....also known as....that thing during the ending credits for the movie Twister

seconded, but from those choises Rock goes above everything else
Animepop and heavy metal (Nightwish mainly :p) has been playing on my PC for a while now though. :D
-
Out of those, rock. But I prefer classical or acoustic. :)
-
Christ, where to start?
Rock, a myriad subgenres thereof, but in particular old-school heavy metal (NWOBHM-type stuff, Sabbath et al), hard rock (anything from Thin Lizzy to Audioslave), all the way through to weird **** like Nightwish, Dragonforce, Fall Of The Leafe, Tomahawk, and loads of other stuff. Oh, and pretty much anything with Mike Patton in it.
Also like classical music, blues, guitar-based jazz, reggae (Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff etc), some electronica (Gary Numan, Soft Cell etc.) and anything that sounds good.
-
The genres
"Post-hardcore"
"New rock revolution", and
"Brit Pop"
would sum up my main intrests, but also including some hip hop and some dance music (trance, big beat and house mostly).
It would probably just be easier to say I dont like metal (though slipknot make me smile), and all other music is just down to the individual band/song, not genre.
01010, did you take the time at Donnignton to see Biffy Clyro?
