I took the liberty of editing and renaming the high-quality soundtrack files off of warpcore to have the same name and length as their FS2 counterparts; this basically doubles the quality of some FS2 musics.
Unfortunately, I had to compress them...they're all in OGG format, which supposedly gives superior sound to MP3. They can be decompressed using Winamp or dbPoweramp (You might need to get a plugin for OGG format though).

Self-extracting RAR:

I also split up the ending cutscene music...
Ending Supernova cutscene music:

Music for Petrarch's monologue - perfect for briefing or debriefing or credits.

Enjoy. :)

OWNAGE!

?

 Excellent work.
FreeSpace needs to get ogg support ;)
But converting them to wav will do for now.
-
This is stuff for the mediaVP ;)
Too bad that all music sounds better in Winamp than in FS2 :(
-
Try this build (http://fs2source.warpcore.org/exes/latest/fs2_open_Cex.zip) and see if you notice a difference.
Also make sure you aren't just hearing a difference in volume. I thought they sounded the same in Winamp and FS2, but I may have been wrong.
-
:wtf: the cex build?
-
I just uploaded it today, has the latest CVS + a couple line changes that should switch the sound quality to 48khz.
-
Ok, I'll try it.
But the link won't work :(
Yeah 48 khz
I'm just unhappy I lost my Audigy. :( 96 khz :(
How much khz did the vanilla FS2 use ?
Edit: http://fs2source.warpcore.org/exes/latest/fs2_open_Cex.exe
I'll post my results later :)

I think it sounds better, especially some custom sounds.
But sometimes it crackles. But only voice and sfx.

Listen to the words in "Sathanas" theme... same words as in "FS2 Cinematic".
"Agnus Dei..."... in Latin: Agnus Dei= Passover (Agnus=Lamb, Dei=God) interesting, isn't it?
I was listening to other words in both Sathanas nad Cinemstic themes but I understand only one more word- Alleluja (Hallelujah :D in English?).
There are some more words in Sathanas theme, someone undrestand them? ;)

DB: Which mission are you having problems with?

Someone tell me what he's talking about?
Agnus Dei? Where was that...?
Edit: Oh. I think I understand, now. In Fs2_cinema.wav... Is that when the female voice is played? With the same sound played when evil occurs in the sixth day? :p

Watch the last cutscene in FS2 (the bit with Capella) and listen to the words.
As you say there are also words in the cinema.wav.
-
...and learn Latin language to understand it :)
-
So did increasing the frequency make a difference?
-
Doesn't seem to have, it just made things not work on people's computers. :doubt:
Here's an attempt at resampling some Freespace 1 music to a higher quality, and making it somewhat stereo.
Freespace 1 M4: Worlds Apart (http://fs2source.warpcore.org/temp/m4_hiquality.exe)
All OGG, like the last set.
