Title: well, hello there all of you(again)
Post by: pecenipicek on November 11, 2005, 11:56:44 am
Well, i'm obviously back, as karajorma told me HLP had a general amnesty...

anyways, i was wondering if people are interested in having one complete package of FS2 ships and textures(no mod ships tho) for their 3D program?
i can get the files in .3ds format and .c4d

textures included too

also, on a similar note, can i use the MediaVP models and textures instead of FS2 ones or not?(i mean, do the people who made them have any objections?) FS2 ones are... bad when rendered in anything other than FS2 in low resolutions.

IOTW, HTL stuff FTW :D

Not sure whether it's appropriate to use 'Welcome Back' for an unbanned member... :nervous: but anyway. I'd certainly be interested in a batch of 3DS models with LODs, for hi-polying without having to do individual TS conversions.
It would also be handy to have a batch of 3DSes without LODs (including the hi-poly ones) for render work. The biggest problem you'll have is that 3DS files insist on 8.3 filenames for their textures.

also, i forgot to include a scene which i made with models i already extracted from FS2. Myrmidon and Herc meshes are from the mediaVP's, version 3.5.5 i think. (also i added the spotlights on the deimos and hecate, they arent on the texture tho. and i did the thrusters by myself too.)

if it insists on 8.3 filenames, then i will use the 8.3 filenames, every ship will be neatly cathalogued and in its folder. with textures in that folder too, probably in jpg format, depends if i can arse enough hosting space from a friend of mine.

I'm suddenly worried about how you're going to pursuade him to give you the space after reading that :p

I'd rather you didn't. It's obvious that it hasn't been changed since he was unbanned, don't instigate.

It's just funny that it still says banned - I wasn't instigating anything.

okay, so people would like to have that...

okay, so **** hits the fan... i tried opening the stuff in 3dsmax, and it wont apply textures or anything(dont even mention the hierarchy) after its been exported from Cinema4D. hmm...

can anyone help? i know absolutely nothing of 3dsmax, and i opened the things in 3dsmax 7(trial version from discreets site...)

There's an edit button for a reason. Please make use of it rather than posting twice or more in a row. Thankyou.

And since on this forum you even get a thread show up as changed since last view when you edit it there's really no good reason not to use edit even if it's been days since the last post on a thread :)

How the hell do you change it anyway?

's dependant on post count. Since I'm a supar spammer, I have an inflated post count and can change my title at will.

okay. wanted to post this a long time ago.

here is the Herc mark II.
everything has been tested in 3dsmax version7. all materials should applied, unless i screwed somewhere up.

availible in .max and .c4d formats, textures are JPG format.
cheers and comments and critiques appreciated. also, note copyrights have been covered in the readme. if somebody's  got a problem, drop me a PM.

also, thanks to Top-Download.net (http://top-download.net) for hosting.

Erm... I thought you were going to post them all at the same time, as textured 3DS files with bmp textures?
Posting them one at a time would take a long time.

this was just a test, i'll post the whole package once i finish extracting them all.

just tell me does it work as advertised?

if it doesnt.. well, whoops.

also, i'll have to export to .3ds, i completely forgot that most other 3d apps cant open .max but can open .3ds...

will probably be fixed until the final pack :)

i'd need someone to test the files everyonce in a while, if your interested send me a PM here :)

I couldn't get either file to open in 3D Exploration but then that is an old program. What versions of Max and C4D are you using?

okay,  re-uploaded, smaller file size(1.5 megs as opposed to 4), decided to apply only the best texture to all LOD's and debris, i didnt take the thruster texture, but i left the thruster model, .3ds this time. tell me if anything is wrong here.
