Title: Trainmen (lightning test)
Post by: Singh on November 12, 2005, 12:21:18 am
Testing out some lightning effects, as well as cleaning up the textures on some of my older models.

Very cool. The lightning looks pretty brilliant (get it?), except... what happened to that one which is closest to us (bottom left)? The dark outlines - deliberate or not?

not delibrate, unfortunately >_< I only just saw it after I had uploaded it (nearly falling asleep at the time) and to re-render would taken another night. Its a rendering error, mostly, along with some options that need to be...'tweaked' in the motion editor x_x

not texture sets exactly, no.

A friend asked me the same thing, so I've just about uploaded the entire set that is in my maps directory. Some are from FS2, while others from elsewhere, so it is a significant variety (includes explosions, warp and lightning effects) that should be able to help you....

Check your PMs :)

Not a fan of the lightning at all... it doesn't look real. It looks way too flat and just doesn't feel quite... lightningish. My guess is that it's because it's supposed to be rendered in three dimensions but that just makes it come across as two that don't look so great.

well, it IS flat, technically, since its just a texture on a cube atm :/

Point noted though - I think there is a way to fix it, though. *notes to self on how to fix it in DoGA CGA when he gets back.

On the Lightning:  cool  .

Awesome work.  Lightning could be a little sharper, imo.

The poetry's awesome. Reminds me of the world today for some reason...
