For thoes that don't have the game, but would like to try it, FilePlanet is offering a 10-day free trial to Blizzrd's World of Warcraft [EDIT] for the American continent[/EDIT]. It's the "complete" game and after the trial if you wish to continue, you pay a monthly fee like everybody else does. (Beware: File is 2.81 GBs to download, may take a while. as in 5-6 hours for dsl users)

My friend let me use his Guest Pass that came with the game (note to self: Give soul to friend in show of gratitude)
After months of begging (because I'm broke), it took my dad only 5 hours of gametime to decide "Well, if YOU really want this game, I guess I could pitch in..."
:)

Come play on Stormscale as Horde. I need some folks to sign my guild charter. ;)

About mother****ing time someone put that **** up for download.
WoW's business model ****ing blows compared to EvE's
-
And just to prove me point: This trial's only available for North America.
Goddamn, I ****ing hate Blizzard.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that

Taking a shot at it.

Meh.
I'm more annoyed by the fact Blizzard still 'regionalise' the server clusters. So EU, NA and Asia players are all segregated.
-
australia gets to play on the US server clusters, they recently put up two new servers that are oceanic orientated with the GMT +11 timezone, only drawback is that it's still located in America, California to be precise.

Yeah that pretty much sums up my view on this.

Eve > WoW
Single server cluster + compartively low price + huge universe-ness ftw

Timecards, 'nuff said

The two games are hardly comparable aside from both being MMOs. They're totally different kinds of games, that's akin to saying Quake > Super Mario.

True, but in regards to their business practices and game management decisions EvE is infinitely better.
Your only cost is the subscription, everyone plays in the same huge universe and you can interact freely with everyone.
WoW makes you pay for the game, pay to play it and pay to advance past L60, it fixes you not only to the realm you've chosen but to a specific set or regionalized realms based on your RL location and it keeps Horde and Alliance from even speaking to each other (which is understandable, I suppose, but not entirely necessary).

I'll add that to WoW:
Error #132, and Blizzard not giving a damn about it. I've cancelled my account a few months ago and am back to playing Lineage2. Sure, I can't fish (yet), but at least I can play.

And anyone is supposed to care because...?
-
Some L60 Dwarf Rogue might want some cannon fodder?
-
Uh, what the f*ck?
My download manager says that I have a negative download speed. Seriously, my download speed is -227 KB/sec!
-
Well I've played it a little. L10 Warlock on Kirin Tor, and explored the Undercity with a new Undead character.
Overall, about what I expected. It's decent, but I'm not a huge MMO fan. I'm more interested in just doing some exploring to see how the whole game world looks, etc.
Unfortunately, in order to see stuff like the Dark Portal I need to do the tedious experience point grinding. Right now I'm in Westfall, trying to get enough levels to move onto Stranglethorn, etc.

In my time using a mates guest pass I discovered that the fastest way up the ladder is a spot of brown-nosing and getting in there with some guys who're close to but slightly higher than your level. You get quite good experience in parties that way and often you get any drops that the creatures may give because the guys above you simply don't need the stuff. So you find yourself rapidly getting some fairly nifty items (for lower levels anyway) and making some friends along the way who'll happily help you complete quest adventures etc.
I made it up to level 21 using just the guest pass (which expired and though I enjoyed the game, I can't afford a monthly fee just to play it).

Only N-America? That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard in my entire life.
-
i think i have a free 10 day pass to give away as well...though you are insanely limited in what you can do during that time. If anyone wants just pst me i guess.
I personally think its a cool game when u can play the damn thing. Amazingly blizzard still hasn't fixed their weekly server lag crap and its really annoying lol. ANyways, its why u dont play only 1 game at a time :p
