Title: Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory - Anyone here have/played it?
Post by: ZmaN on November 16, 2005, 08:32:13 pm
How is this game?  I got the demo, but I cant figure out what to do RIGHT FROM THE START..  I thought, hmm well its just a demo so it may be boring, but maybe the full game isnt...

How is it?  the graphics look good, the effects are nice, the sounds (so far) are decent.  how about the rest of the game?

Just to help you out with the demo, you have to find a hole in the cliff-side. Look for a raised section  of rock that you can climb onto, and from there on everything should be pretty self apparent, at least if you've played any of the previous Splinter Cell games.

I had it for a short while when I had a 6600 gt from Leadtek (came with the graphics card, when the card died I had to give it back :( ).  Fun game once you get the hang of it.  However, unless you have a tutorial level or have played games in this genre before, I think its easy to get lost right off the bat.

I played the Co-Op with a friend of mine, it was pretty fun, a little short, but that was just the co-op

This is an awesome game as far as the single player goes, easily the best FPS/TPS released in the last 18 months. The graphics, gameplay, level design and attention to detail are all top notch and the story is pretty good too. I very highly recommend it. This is the one and only game where the graphical quality benefits a lot from SM3 and HDR, but the 1.4 patch enables a pseudo HDR mode for ATI X800 cards. Get that before starting to play.

Note that unlike the previous games, you can interrogate every enemy guy in the game, and the game actually rewards you for not killing them. Some of them say some pretty hilarious things too. :D

The co-op mode on the PC version is totally messed up, however. It's essentially dysfunctional in its current state. Don't expect to get anything out of that, although TVT mode works okay. Also, this game does not work on XP 64-bit due to the copy protection. Of course, it's easy enough to get around that, but something you should be aware of if you run that OS.

One of the best games I've played this year. Easier for the newbies (like me), too.

'Got' it for the Xbox.

Awesome game, but the bit on the Korean ship with the boxes is just ****ing confusing.

Love the sticky-shockers.

I have Splinter Cell: Pandora tomorrow, so I think i might just get Chaos Theory...

Can someone tell me WHY its rated M as compared to Pandora tommorow being rated T?

and how much profanity is in it?

Does it matter? Could be because you can kill people up close and personal (stabbing, neck-breaking, spine-breaking etc), but it's not particularly graphic (just a nice crunching sound and a grunt of pain from the victim IIRC). It's much better than Pandora Tomorrow, anyhow.

Well it depends on what you conciter 'bad words'. Im 18, and my ..um.. 9? year old brother plays with me. There is a few words i dont want him hearing or repeating (but i cant help it:P expecialy when hes only one to play co op wiht me. Btw, he kicks almost as much ass as i do.. nice eh?). "those bastards are shotting at me" "****, im getting shot at" "dam were good" "burn inhell" (?) "godam (godammit).." Stuff like that. No F bombs or B words.. or any real bad ones. But I recomend this game.

Splinter Cell games are the bomb. I have Chaos Theory for GameCube. I HIGHLY RECOMEND IT. Graphics and everythign is aswem. SP is excelent, and the Co Op is, unlike PC version, NOT messed up. Its Great. The 4 Co Op campaigns, tho short, are very hard. Took many many tries to beat each level so that lenghtens it.
I have Pandora tomorrow, its aswem too.
