Title: Effects question...
Post by: Ghost on November 17, 2005, 07:43:22 pm
Probably another stupid thing I overlooked, but I recently reinstalled all my FS2 stuff. The game, the SCP, all the new VPs... so I'm running 3.6.7 with all the main VPs(meaning not mv_music or mv_cell), and I was wondering what happened to the weapon effects, and why I'm not seeing some of the other fancy stuff.

Such as this: http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/1423/beam7lw.jpg and no, my textures look fine.

I get the neato flak effects (http://img489.imageshack.us/img489/9140/screen00495jo.png), but I was wondering if I could get rid of the old ones, because they look terrible, and they still show up =(

Any help?

Mods may make use of .tbl files that override the mediaVPs' and wipe out the special effects. (This is by design, so that mods work)

That's probably what's happening in this situation if you can run with no mods and the neato flak effects show up. In that case you'll have to change the flak explosion anim to a new one in the mod tables or with modular tables, or use a newer build and do it with XMTs.

When I test, I run FS2 main campaign, with no mods. But tables... I may have gotten something in there... let me look...*checks* Oh. Umm...Yeah. My tables directory has a bunch of crap in there that I believe I got from the SCP website. I think it was the "correct tables" thing to download if you want to play Multi. I'm gonna take them out and see if the rest of that crap works. I'll get back to you; thanks for bringing them to my attention!

EDIT:: oh. Wow. Thank you so much. Works excellently.

And the lesson you should learn from this is always install mods of any kind in their own folder :)

Simply make a folder called multiplayer and stick the tables in a subfolder of that i.e multiplayer\data\tables.
