Ive been trying to get a decent shape and this is only an early preview tpye thing..its pretty rubbish at the moment.
anyway..if anyone can think of any decent shapes or widgets to put on it please say, im goign through a rather non-creative phase at the moment where im sitting down and not doing very much.

Brighten it up, I can hardly see it.
There were some cranes in the hanger bay of the Bastion, you might want to add something similar to this design. When skined, having areas labled "air lock" might be approriate.
The ribs seem a bit too close to me. Maybe pull them out a little more. It's hard to tell, though, the image is so damn dark.

Hey, that kinda reminds me of the McKinley station in orbit of Mars (in Trek)! (The station where the Enterprise-D was constructed, and the Defiant-class warships were designed.)

nah, McKinley looks more like this claw that latches on to the saucer part of the ship...
actually it kinda reminds me of a facehugger from Aliens (McKinley, not your station)....

this one is BIG..
all in all, almost 300,000 polygons and textures about 800x600 minimum.
this is for a personal porject im working on - i'll keep the board posted on how it progresses.

my problem atm is the renderer im using wont do glows..so ill have to do some jiggery-pokery with render layering and some compositing programs to get all the pretty lights in and stuff.

really impressive. Since I do models for FS2 I don't make high poly models... I should try again.

Hmm, I'd keep the solar panels blue, but have a very low contrast on the panels. (so they are blue with slight changes of hue in the texture, most of the texture being from reflecting surfaces)
Also the panels I'd make translucent and seem as a wafer of thin layers.
Finally the Havoc itself I'd dull down the yellow and red so it has less contrast, I'd also add some rust and grit on them.
The last thing I'd do is have on the drydock sections like on the Millenium Falcon. (i.e. chunks of just pipes and such)

could someone post some contact details to volition in this thread please?
i need to get in contact with them to obtain the shivan concept work..the in game models don't give me a brilliant idea of what they were actually always meant to look like and if possible id like to get hold of as much origional RENDER quality stuff as I can. I wont use the V models..ill just work from them as reference material, that way I can avoid any copyright issues.

you can get them in the FS1 (or 2 maybe) sparky.vp files called crlm.pcx, under the interface section (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
