Apparently it's been updated and a new look has been applied.

Mmm nope...there are plenty of familiar names still working there.  FreeSpace's creator Adam Pletcher still there, Anoop and Sandeep Shekar still there, Alan Lawrence, Nick Lee, Mike Breault, James Tsai, Dan Wentz (music and sound!) and probably more that I can no longer remember.  All of these guys had a hand (some big, some small) in the creation of FreeSpace, FreeSpace 2, and quite a few of these guys are still around from the Descent days that kicked everything off.  Plus you have Mike Kulas who is still president.  I'd say if they went back to make another FreeSpace game that we'd be in great hands with the vast majority of the original team with that original spirit.

Beating my own chest here for a second but keep in mind that I've met most of these guys (most just for a minute or two)...particularly Adam Pletcher who I grilled (:)) on why he made FreeSpace and Mike Kulas on what it is to be president of a games development house like Volition.  Plus myself and many of the members of the Volition Watch website went and ate lunch at the infamous Papa Dell's pizza parlour :)

Them's were the days....wow that takes me back.

*IceFire goes off on a flashback*

Also Mark Allender, Dave Andsager, Dave Baranec, Brad Johnson, Jason Scott, and Jasen Whiteside.  So we have most of the old guard still there. :)

Notably missing from the list, however, are Jim Boone and James Agay, two of the major forces in Freespace mission design. :(

As I see it, the three core people required to make Freespace 3 are Adam Pletcher (original concept), Jason Scott (story writer), and Mike Kulas (making things click together).  Brad Johnson (mission design), Dave Baranec (code) and Dan Wentz (music) are also major pluses.  So we're safe yet. :)

And by the way, they got the Freespace site back up. :)

Makes the game look 'new'. Or at least not made in 1999.

Sorry, but there is no news for FreeSpace 2 at this time.

They should just set up an RSS feed and display HLP's news on the FS2 page :p

*(Isn't sure if he said that right)

Given the critical acclaim FS2 has gained :v: would be fools not to put it up on their website :) It would be like Spielberg writing out his CV and only putting War of the Worlds, The Terminal and Catch Me If You Can on it cause everything else is too old. :D

I just downloaded the Freespace 1 Demo, since it was only 25 megs. Brings back memories...I still remember that conversation with a friend.

*talking about games*
-so, you ever played Freespace?
-yeah, it's awesome. You played Freespace 2?
-....there's a Freespace 2?
-yep
-*me runs off and buys*

Sorry i was not around. But what was after the VBB? There was, for all i know, VBB then a 2nd, then VW, and then HLP. Someone correct me \ give detialz plz.

EDIT: Wtf! CLick on games, then fs2. there is NO text. Very little text for FS2 also. What the hell are they doing.. asholes.

The VBB was closed down due to rampant, and I mean rampant unmoderation - there was no moderation on those forums, and :v: didn't want to deal with it. After the VBB, the community migrated either to VW or HLP (like myself).

No kidding. Anyone remember RJM and Hemaroid Frog Butt? It took them almost four days for them to ban these guys after they started their spamming. :p

Was anyone one of those two involved with the BOSCHBOSCHBOSCHBOSCHBOSCHBOSCH scheme, or was that someone else? :p

All of you veterans should write a sort of history section in the wiki.  Covering all major events from VBB to present day.

I would read it :D

I love the way the list of games on the frontpage get progressively more generic as you move forward in time........

Read the original HLP movie! :D

Ditto, although it only loosely follows the events, and only really in the beginning :D

I've always wondered, did you get your name from that thread or were you already registered as Carl when it started?
