Activate the -jpgtga command line. Or get the missing art you probably don't have for them.

Which ships are missing textures?

well so far a triton class freighter and a hercules (not mark II)...

I dont know what else though...  the other thing is that I cant shoot the invisible ships, my bullets just pass right through them....

EDIT:   I had the two media VP patches recently released installed in my Freespace2 directory, I took them out and the triton showed up....

but the triton looks HORRID!  How is this fixed?

-jpgtga.  The Herc I, Triton, and I think Aeolus use TGA textures.  The Herc should have started showing up at some point as DDS textures were added to the media VPs, but that's the root cause of the problem.

in case you don't know how to activate what they mentioned you can do it via a shortcut, or simply run the launcher, and under features, for the command line type in -jpgtga.

There are a plethora of other command lines you can enter to get the full effects of SCP too.  Such as the shinyness, lighting factors, specular/glowmaps, etc.

Herc 1 is TGA, but the triton and aeolus are DDS.

Zman, what do you mean by horrid? As in brightly coloured rainbow textures, textures that don't appear to fit the ship at all or something else? That info, or better yet, a screenie, would greatly help in identifying the cause. :)

Oh, and be sure you have all the latest media VPs and aren't using combinations of old and new.

well I could have sworn that the Triton in RETAIL FS2 looked so much better.  the textures are just so dull, they dont look like that in Retail..  Ill get you a screenie...

Screenie 1:  full view        (http://img454.imageshack.us/img454/7185/triton34lx.th.png) (http://img454.imageshack.us/my.php?image=triton34lx.png)

Screenie 2:  close up view of textures:  (http://img454.imageshack.us/img454/8117/triton12gb.png) (http://imageshack.us)

PS:  the -jpgtda command didnt work...
If these are normal textures, than I give you full authority to shoot me with a BFGreen!  (aka screw me)

Those textures look right......

and you spelled the command line wrong, if that's how you indeed spelled it. -jpgtga not tda. ;)

Heh - those are indeed the normal un-improved textures on an unimproved model. ;) That's exactly how it appears in retail - no new model or even Lightspeeds texture versions.

Anyway, it sounds like it is just missing the -jpgtga command line flag, so manually enter that or check the first checkbox under the graphical improvements dropdown list (just underneath where you're manually entering them) in the FSO launcher.

Just in case you're not sure what I'm talking about - the launcher was placed in your Freespace install directory when you use the FSO 3.6.7 installer and allows you to manually enter command lines, or check boxes next to the more common ones (such as -jpgtga, -glow, -shine etc) as well as many other features. So if you're not using it as is,.......well, use it. :)

As I can't search... In FS2 all cain class cruisers are half invisible; I'm guessing it's a driver problem because it does it when I'm not using SCP and when I am, if so what catalyst drivers should i go back to?

Thanks

It's not a driver problem at all most likely. Try turning on the JPG and TGA texture in the launcher and see if the problem goes away.

Just the Cain?  That seems really strange. Can you get us a screenshot?

Didn't lightspeed make separate Cain/Lillith maps? Might that be messing it up?

Yep. That's exactly the error you'd get if you have lightspeed's cain model but don't have the textures.
What's happening is that the game is missing two textures. Do you have mv_effects but not mv_textures by any chance? If so you need mv_textures to solve the problem (or you can just get read of mv_effects and go back to the older effects).
