RELEASE
- AB Trails (DaBrain)
- New capgun effects (Pnakotus/Lightspeed/???)
- More descriptive weapons text (Pnakotus)
- Fixed Deimos model (StratComm)
- Fixed Aten and Satis models (StratComm)
- Hercules 2(Devils_hitman/Stratcomm)
- Turret alignment fix (Admiral Nelson)
IMPORTANT: This release requires a CVS build to work since it includes XMT files. If you use it with the 3.6.7 release, it will not work properly.
Readme (http://fs2source.warpcore.org/mvp367/mvpatch_readme.txt)
Patch 3 Release (http://fs2source.warpcore.org/mvp367/mv_100patch.zip)
Beam patch (http://fs2source.warpcore.org/mvp367/mv_befix.zip) (Disables animated beamglows, for great performance increase when beams are fired)
Note that patch names follow a simple formula. Weekend one: "1000", two: "0100", three: "0010", four: "0001". If a particularly bad bug crops up, it will be added as "0090" or whatever. This weekend is 100, just because. :p
I will wait a couple hours and then check back to make sure there are no severe bugs before posting this in the news.

This does include the Herc 2, right?
EDIT: short check; it does. Cool.

Oops. I updated the main readme, but not the patch readme.
Fixed all the instances online except in the ZIP, I don't want to corrupt the file.

Every time one of WMCs patches comes out, I realise I manage to miss excellent features (like DaBrains AB trails!) regardless of how much I check the forum. Great stuff. :)

Ok, just one question. If I go and redownload the 3.6.7 VPs, seeing as I can't remember when I originally downloaded them, which patch(es) do I need?
-
2 and 3. The first patch was a legit bugfix and so the original was updated. That said, the difference between downloading patch 1 and a full set of 3.6.7's is huge, so I'd go with the first patch.
-
I believe that I am having problems with the new patch. I saved it and placed it in the same folder as my other media vps, however, I am not seeing a difference in the game itself: the Herc II looks the same, the turret angles are still at 90 degrees, no AB trails, and so on. I am currently using build 11/22 as I am to test a bug for Taylor, and my command line is D:\My Games\Freespace 2\Freespace 2\FreeSpace2\fs2_open_r-P420051121.exe -spec -glow -jpgtga -mipmap -2d_poof.

Ah, but I have broadband, so redownloading a full set of VPs really doesn't matter that much to me. Thanks for the info.

Turret angle fix works for me, but I'm still not getting Afterburner trails to show up...
-
WMCoolmon, has this been fixed yet?
The original release of the patch had a fairly fatal flaw that prevented anything from showing up. Open it with VPView and see if it has Data/data/... in the location for some of the files; that will cause it to do nothing and you'll need to re-download it (assuming it's been fixed)
-
Yeah, it wasn't up for very long, but if you downloaded in the first 30 minutes or so you may be at risk.
Patch 1 only changed mv_models, so it's not necessary to download everything.

Yeah, I will have to concur with that, I don't see any AB Trails either. I'm running the latest CVS (11/24).
My command line is:
C:\Program Files\FreeSpace2\fs2_open_r-20051124.exe -spec -glow -jpgtga -mipmap -nomotiondebris -2d_poof -missile_lighting -3dwarp -snd_preload

Wierd. I had the AB trails after installing the 11/20 patch, but they've gone now.

Doesn't work well with precedence.
