Title: Mission testing
Post by: CP5670 on December 09, 2001, 03:24:00 am
Hey everyone; I am currently working on an FS2 campaign entitled The Procyon Insurgency...I am about 70% finished with it, so it should be out soon, but I was wondering if anyone here would be interesting in playing the missions that are completed (6 out of 11) and giving me some feedback and/or bug reports on them. I thought that the debugging/beta phase would go a bit faster if some of the community works on it, and everyone else would get some extra missions to play without having to wait for the entire campaign to be released. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) (should be in just under a month though)

If any of you are interested I will upload the stuff and post the links here. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Yeah, I have put what I have completed so far into a preliminary VP; I'll put that up too along with the missions.

I just wanted a few opinions and stuff like that on the progress so far.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) I'll put the files up a bit later today in case anyone is interested.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Hey I've downloaded the .ZIP file 2 times now and I keep getting the same message: "Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive. If you downloaded this file, try downloading the file again."

Any ideas??   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/mad.gif)

Edit: Ok tried it again and I noticed that when the download is at 2% it automatically finishes itself. The progress bar kinda goes to the end just as it had finished, but with 56k I don't really think I can download a 7MB file in 15 seconds. And then again, any ideas??

CP, I just DL'ed the file; I'll take a look at it after Christmas Break (I got exams and a trip to Argentina to deal with before I can get to it).

If you followed my previous editing, this should look pretty good!  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Hey, thanks. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) I should have the remaining missions complete by then, so a beta version can be released to iron out any remaining bugs. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Oh this error can get really annoying; I think this might actually be a bug with IE or something, since every now and then I get the same error for seemingly random files. It seems to go away when using a download manager like Gozilla or if you just try it over and over again, at least in my experience. If you still can't get it to work but would like to try it out we can meet on ICQ sometime (71098511) for a transfer.

Hey I am one of the weirdos in the world who still uses the good old Win3.1 File Manager (I can't stand Windows explorer and FM isn't too bad with that FMLFNS add-on) which displays the filesize in bytes rather than kilobytes, so I thought I might as well post the exact thing there.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Might have something to do with the @Home server; ever since this whole issue of their bankruptcy became public the reliability of their server has been sort of erratic. I would put it up somewhere else but this is really the only webspace I have access to. Does anyone know of another place I could put this up? In the meantime, I can meet you on ICQ to do a file transfer; that usually works in my experience.

Buy some space! (not freespace, you already have that! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif))

Humm.... 7.4MB, thats gonna take about 2 hours to D/L. Pants... Put it on some where else....

In the words of Cartman - that campaign is kickass! It strikes me as being very professional, and innovative - gets my thumbs up.

Hey thanks; glad you liked it. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) I am currently working on the eighth mission for this campaign; seventh is pretty much complete, but it probably still has one or two small errors in it. Man, it takes forever to get all the bugs out of these missions. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif) (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

I can only agree, dude.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) I've only played through two missions - I had to tear myself away from the computer to stop from playing all seven missions, but my eyes were starting to get heavy and I was trying to go coffee-free...  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) But dude, seriously, this is top work. Heaps of kudos to you, dude.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

You on a 56k? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) I have really bad memories about anything "MB" from my 56k days... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) (which wasn't all that long ago actually)
