Just came back from seeing it - what a movie! The action scenes, while sort of exciting (especially the last one) were just a bit too...insane. You couldn't keep track of what was going on. But, like an artsy anime (it was based on an anime, btw), it has weird action, but awesome plot. I was glued to my seat for the entire movie, just because I was following the twisty, turny plot. Melikes a lot :)
Just for anyone who was wanting to see it, you really should, it's definately worst the money.

I saw a review, said the story was great, but if you knew anything about it beforehand, it would ruin the movie. Action packed along with the corny and cheesy lines, but all-around it was "meh" as in "my head didn't fall off at the very least".
Anime needs to stay Anime.
I'll probably see it though, Theron is... *insert the salivating sound Homer makes*

couldn't agree more

My friends and I agreed that Aeon Flux is one of the worst movies ever made. It's so bad, in fact, that I would highly recommend seeing it, just for the experience.

MST3K?
-
The worst movies ever made are Love Actually, Napoleon Dynamite and War Of The Worlds.
Episode 3 comes close - but knowing that it would suck beforehand reduced it's impact.
-
Well I've seen it.
It's not THAT bad, but it's pretty ****. I can see the effort there, but it's been ****ed in the manner that the script is rather horrible and the special effects and fights completely unimpressive. Story is pretty weak as well, unrelated to the fact that the script is bad.
I can see why she'd go for acting in it, but in the end, she's not the dissapointment, the actual movie is.

Well, napoleon dynamite was THE STUPIDEST movie ever made.... i dont know if its because MTV made it, but that was the only reason why it was popular.....
My friend saw war of the worlds, he said he loved it, but it didnt look that good....
Not too sure for Love Actually, i never saw that....
All in all, Aeon Flux is not the worst movie ever made. it may be weak, but its not as bad as Napoleon Dynamite

MTV didn't make Napoleon Dynamite...
A couple college kids did. And they got picked up by Fox.
For the record, ND is funny as 'ell if you've been to Idaho.

Fools, all of you!
Well, maybe not all of you. But there are certain movies like Napoleon Dynamite where either you 'get it' or you don't. Something being a Good Movie is different from you liking it; Aeon Flux is almost certainly not a good movie but if you like exciting action pics then you'd probably enjoy it.
Movies as entertainment and movies as art are seperate things, just like there's a difference between Ernest Hemingway and Stephen King. Sometimes they meet and that's where you get masterpieces like Finding Nemo or The Lord of the Rings that are critically acclaimed, visually, thematically and psychologically deep, and tremendously entertaining.
I've studied a lot of film and there's much to be found beneath the surface of a lot of movies, if only you care to look. I wrote six pages for a school project on the dynamic and infinitely scalable Baroque architecture of The Chronicles of Riddick where most people saw only a mindless action flick. Got an A on it, too. :)
-
The reason Riddick worked was because it was as much a tale of morality and redemption as it was a scifi-action flick.
Typical anti-hero stuff.
-
i liked pitch black over chronicles. both movies were highly stylizeed, which saved the second movie. the first movie which was more about survival and less about the main character looking cool. i still often find the riddick movies the best of its type, least till i see something better.

Oh, thought MST3K was l33t for mistake :doubt:
-
You never know. MST3K was an entity in and of itself, but there's no telling where the name came from.
-
Did they have l33t in 1989?
-
Not as we know it today. But the concept of using numbers and phoenetics in spelling is a lot older than l33t itself. Similar roots is all I'm saying. Of course, it could just be coincidence too.

This is the thing about movies, and why films like Star Wars or even King Kong work so well. Producers have forgotten something very very important, which is that the human imagination is better and cheaper than any amount of special effects. Engage the audiences imagination, and the film is made, regardless of how much you spent on effects. Even if that imagination is in the direction of Theron ;)
