Title: Some problems
Post by: Figbash on December 10, 2005, 09:32:38 pm
Hi, I just recently found out about SCP so I'm very new to it.  It's really sweet!  I'm having a few showstopping problems though and I was wondering if anyone else had run into them.

I'm using 20050728-Goober5000 and mv_Zpack, the problems seem to happen with no features enabled at all.  I'm on an ati radeon 9800 with newest catalyst.
When I try to run it in direct3D, the game will run perfect for a long time, then it will suddenly turn into a slideshow (including the menus, etc) where it will pause for about a second, then play a frame, then pause again.  If I go into the menu and leave again really fast it will work smoothly for a few seconds then start chopping again.
When I try to use OpenGL, it seems to work except everytime I click the mouse button freespace2 will minimize, which makes it a little hard to navigate the menus or play using the mouse :)
Any help at all would be appreciated, it's driving me crazy because I really want to play through this beautified freespace 2

try running a debug build and tell us what errors you get. :)

Hmmm. This is the 2nd or third time I've seen someone having problems with this build this week. I wonder why everyone is picking it seeing as how it's actually older than the official 3.6.7 build.

Anyway try both the latest CVS build or the official 3.6.7 build and the error will probably go away.

Ah I'll try that, the guide I followed must have been out of date I just followed the link from there.

I'm using the 3.6.7 release, same problems :/  I tried the debug mode, nothing obvious came up in the log/spew, but instead of chopping it simply seems to crash in debug mode (for the direct3d problem)
The GL problem doesn't have any errors.  Maybe I'll try omega drivers and see if that would randomly help.
Alt-Tabbing out and back in makes the chopping go away for a while.
