I'm having trouble with that program, it just gives me a command line, No GUI or nothing (Im a newby at this stuff)

If you don't have the Retail version of FS2, having the source code releases won't help you any, since that's just the engine and not the artwork, campaign files, models, and all that.
But that's not a very hard problem to deal with, fortunately...

It just got harder
The requested URL /Freespace 2.rar was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Anyway any idea where else i can get it?

Try [DW]-Hunter's site, www.freespacezone.com.
-
It say's www.freespacezone.com could not be found check the name and try again
BTW i use Mozilla firefox would this be a problem?
-
I'm using Firefox, too, and I see it plain as day. I guess you could try opening it up in Internet Exploder or something.
-
Yeah i'll give it a go.
-
Same error on both browsers
-
Sounds like it's a problem with your connection or firewall or something in that case...
-
My sister cant acsess it either :S Google even shows it!
Anyway i'm getting a friend to try it.
Oh and i dont have a router, just sygate personal firewall
Yeah he can acsess it.
-
Ok he gave me the download links and they work fine :)
-

-

You don't have to build the source code yourself. See this wiki page (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Installing_fs2_open).
-
Also, please don't double post if you can help it :D But yea, :welcome:
-
you can always go to my FTP if you need the files... (iso's) (below)

I can't vouch for the Linux guys but the Linux builds are still somewhat experimental from what I understand.

When I used Linux, fs2_open generally tended to run as well as if not better than under Windows. If you can get it working, it's a couple steps ahead of the quality of 98% of the rest of the software for Linux.
