i'm thinking of getting one new game with my Tax refund tomarrow,...I've heard good and bad about IW2...but not much about any other new games....comments and thoughts please?

I-War 2 is great. If not that, then Max Payne, if you like cinematic third-person shooters, or Startopia, if you like Theme Park -like building games. Might want to give Operation Flashpoint a go as well, but I personally think it sucks.
Well, that's all I've got demos of right now. Op Flashpoint can't keep itself up for more than 5 minutes, but Startopia and Max Payne are seriously awesome games.

Well, theres always a few older games that you might not have that would be better to get than some new ones...
Deus Ex, Giants, or one of my favorites.. Theif. God that games fun....
Uhhh.. Shogo, Homeworld, Homeworld: Cataclysm, Allegiance (a really good, and overlooked, mulitplayer space sim from Microsoft).
Some new ones... Emperor: Battle for Dune (if you like Red Alert 2, you'll probably like this), MechCommander 2, Anachronox, I dunno, I could go on forever...

If you look around, you can find Fallout 1 and 2 in a special double pack for 10-20 bucks. Freespace 1 and Silent Threat should be there too, if you don't already have them.
I'd also suggest picking up The Longest Journey if you can stand adventure games.

Honest advice- if you're into versimilitude more than action-type stuff, good plot, any patches/upgrades period, E2150/TMP is probably the best war game ever. At least, E2150 is. The plot is **** (plus translated from German), the company is bankrupt, but the game is a beaut- weather that actually DOES something, interactive terrain, pretty well balanced... and the online community is about 12 billion times more informed and friendly to noobs than the VBB, etc. All 20 of us left (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
If violence is your cup of tea, get Blood, Quake XVIIC or whatever is out now- never been able to tell the difference between them- I've heard very good things about Max Payne.
For anything else, the ones I recommend you can only get for free and only if you know the correct places now, so I can't help you spend money there.

Well? How is it? I got the original MechCommander for NIS 40 (~$10) back when it came out, and it was the best 40 shekels I had ever spent. How does #2 compare?

MC2 is great.. the single player is just cool... the multiplayer is a bit lacking tho....

Awgh... MC2 is missing all the cool stuff that made the first one good. Not worth the cash if you ask me.
