These are new pic from the I Found Her freeware Babylon 5 project...
I must say I think they are stunning!

They are all pretty much WIP, like the flare on the Starfury bolt is gonna be stretched over the whole thing, and it the Whitestar is still WIP, but WOW!
-
those guys are very good programmers.. i would work with them any day of the week
-
yeah, good programmers: look at the starfury, the cockpit: no clipping at all, even with the pilot in it. Now tha is perfect Z-buffer handling.
they're excellent modellers too btw.
-
btw. freeware? can we get that somewhere?
-
OW!
Freeware? What's the trick? (Stryke's Second Law of Gaming: If you didn't pay or it, it's either pirated but good, or legal but crap. Fools sometimes manage to find a middle ground, but it's always somewhere between the two downsides)
AND WHO MADE ME A "VALUED MEMBER"? I'VE NEVER SAID OR DONE ANYTHING USEFUL HERE AND ALL OF YOU KNOW IT!!! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

This TC seem to be really cool. Can't wait for it. And for those who don't know about the Babylon Project, check this link:

Tho those pics don't come from the Bprokject lol, look at the HUD (if I misunderstood what you said, sorry)
Stryke9: legal but crap?
doom, descent were sharewares, originally. They're now myths.
-
Descent: Crap. Not smelly crap, but nothing that I haven't seen in my 80's Tunnels games.
Doom: Ultracrap
Java/Shockwave: Crap to the nth power.
I may be more critical than some, but I have found that if you know what you want, you can find long-dead or obscure games that give you exactly that- not much else, but generally exactly what matters to you. Everything else, particularly such pathetic special-effects shows as Doom (no content or much else, and of course now- ever see an old Flash Gordon? I rest my case. I could go on about this for days, you know- I spent years trying to find a set of games that required neural impuses AND were any good, and have come upon everything I personally will need for the next 20 years- all either abandonware or hard to find as the devil.

ok, I dunno, go read a book or play tetris.

To the people that thought this was The Babylon Project developed for Freespace, your wrong - it's actually a completely different project sporting a new engine and so on. I've had an eye on it for ages now but not a very close one because work on the front end allways seems a little slow. Suffice to say it looks really impressive and I'm looking forward to it'd release. See here ("http://mods.firstones.com/ifh/") for the website.

Gosh darn... those are amazing. How long have those guys been working on this sucker?
-
Ít's been a while. I played the original Alpha Alpha Alpha ... version of it. It was fun, even though the AI was nonexistant and the graphics a bit rough. That was WAAAAY back.
-
That's still up for download... I hope it's changed a fair bit since then as I just replayed it and it's rather worrying...
-
Incidentally, does anyone remember a freeware Fs-type game, set in an orginal universe, being developed by some programmer on his own?
I remember seeing a link on the VBB, oh, ages ago... it looked pretty good too.

You probably mean Starshatter...
-
I WANT Moonstone for the AMIGA best game EVHA
beats the cr@p out of diablo and diablo2
-
Stryke, get ready to redetermine your views...
This game has been in production for a Loooong time now, and the test you can download is VERY old now...
The engine looks rather amazing, and though I havn't really been able to confirm this or not, from what I can gather the beams in this really cut ships apart, like they do in the show... which is nice (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
There should be a demo coming out soon, so keep yer eyes open (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
Ps: Does anybody know where I can download X-Com UFO? I can't find it anywhere (not even in the shops, though that is unsuprising (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/rolleyes.gif) )

Freaky. If it just doesn't lock up my computer, I'll give it high points for freeware. If it really kicks *** ... it won't be free for long (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
Seriously, it would be extremely cool if there actually WAS someone out there making games for the sake of doing so, who was competent besides... but most of the good programmers, etc. are snapped up by large corporations who pay a lot but have you sin a contract selling your soul and all materials produced by the aforementioned, or they get your house, your car, and your first-born son.
