After bringing down two government in as many years, the Bolivian MAS party wins the elections, which should only strengthen (and considerably) the leftward political stance of South America as a whole.
Now, most of you probaby have zero interest in the goings-on of a small South American nation, and justifiably so, but this is in many ways a pretty historic moment. For the first time, an Indian is head-of-state of an American (as in both North and South) country. And one from, literally, the poorest of the poor. Most of his brothers and sisters never made it past infancy, he picked up food off the street to feed himself- that kind of stuff. Bolivia sits on South America's second largest natural gas reserves, and yet it's citizens are destitute, the poorest on the continent. The country has gotten shafted at every turn, even having to pay Bechtel for it's own rain-water at one point, so it seems like justice to me that you finally have someone who speaks for the majority.
And now, all there is left to do is sit and wait for the Marines to show up.

What can I do except cheer them on? About time someone smart from the streets gets to the power, as opposed to someone higher up in the social ladder.

So they're communists and they have huge amounts of fossil fuel......

In a nutshell, yes. Also, they plan on legalizing coca.

That might be all that saves them.
As powerful and evil as the oil companies are, they don't go around cutting people's hearts out. The Mafia and the Russians do.
