Demo Patch 1.2 (29.35mb) - for previous demo 1b
http://files.filefront.com/B5HeatEmUpDemoPatchzip/;4490668;;/fileinfo.html
If this patch doesnt work, or you get no in game speech and loading screen then the original upload of the heat em up demo vp was corrupt. Unfortunatley you will have to upload the B5 Heat Em Up Demo (updated version)
PLEASE READ README FILE FOR INSTALATION INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES
Some people may also experience the fs2-open not opening. This can be solved by installing openAL (all new builds require it) - http://www.openal.org
The build and launcher from the demo must be used because :
These are the latest builds and are tested for compatability.
Problems with older builds causes errors and failed events.
All missions done in fred 3.6.7 so will not work with old builds.
Old builds do not play cut-scenes.
These builds are Mac/Linux compatible.
KNOWN BUGS
1. Certain ships eg. star fury, Sharlin, Olypus etc will experience wierd and wonderfull graphical problems which make the ship or parts of it seem to dissapear or have the wrong textures on them. This is a known bug which should be fixed with a new base release of tbp.
2. Cut scenes may not play properly, after a cut scene has loaded the loading screen will still show and only the audio from the cut scene will play. This is totally random, if this does happen just exit out of the game and rty loading again. This problem is being looked into and should be solved with a patch or a new build.
3. Briefing speech doesnt play on any mission. The audio speech does not seem to play on any of the missions, we are currently looking into this.
Apart from these bugs everything seems A OK ;)

Can't play any missions I get this error when I try to start the campiagn or go try to start any of the single player missions.
Error: Couldn't open mission 'Babylon 5 HEU io t1.fs2'

Are you using the build supplied?
-
I'm using what came in the zip, I overwritted the original launcher and .exe with the ones that were in the zip file.

Ive tested the full new updated demo on differnt pc`s, this should be fine. The patch includes updates off all missions and campaign, this should work as it is but obviousley this isnt going to work, sorry but the only solution would be to download the full updated demo. I tried this as it contains the missions and campaigns so it would only be a 30mb download but there is no choice but to download again. :sigh:
-
I have both the first download and now this patch download.
So what? I need to redownload them both? The same files? Or does this mean my pc just doesn't want to play this and im SOL?
I have the correct build I have the original download and the new updated patch download all installed.
Oh well.

You just need to download this updated zip -

This is the only file you will need, it contains the complete new updated files needed to play the B5 Heat em Up campaign.

Just tried the patch and got the following message, when I tried to start the campaign (though I could now select it which is an improvement):
Error: Couldn't open mission 'Babylon 5 HEU io t1.fs2'

Any ideas? I won't have the download limit to download the new complete version till january

Same problem!!!

Oh bugger, didn't notice the separate thread for the HTU demo patch, so I posted my exactly same problem to old thread. Oh well. So, I'm too getting similar error, it doesn't seem to find the mission files. Perhaps I should just extract them from the vp and place them onto missions folder?
EDIT: Tried that, no luck there. Seems that the campaign file refers to wrong file or something...
Besides, I still can't see how the patch would help, as the original vp file is still unreadable. VPView just gives error when it tries to read it...
-
That's pretty much why I think the demo patch is going to prove a waste of time.
Shaun. A few questions. What's the difference between the VP in the original full download and the new one? Did you change anything major or did you just repack the zip file and upload it? If it's the latter I might be able to help. If not then my advise is to use quickpar to generate some repair files and distribute those instead of the patch. I'll explain how to do that if it turns out to be needed.

The new vp is a new repack. It contains excactly the same as the old one except and extra sound file. All the missions and campaign have been updated (a few more bugs fixed and the campaign name has been changed, they are the only differnces. The earlier vp is definatley corrupt as this should be able to open with vp.view, so the patch is useless really. Just false hope by the looks of it.
