Undercover New York City police officers have conducted covert surveillance in the last 16 months of people protesting the Iraq war, bicycle riders taking part in mass rallies and even mourners at a street vigil for a cyclist killed in an accident, a series of videotapes show.

I really don't understand what the big fuss is. Oh noes, teh government is watching us?! I'd always had the impression that a goverment does, and SHOULD, keep a fairly close eye on its citizens. It's not like they're tossing these cyclists or mourners in jail or anything. For all the times people complain about this sort of thing, I don't see any change in my own personal life. I don't see Big Brother watching over my shoulder. So...meh. I'm sure far worse things are going on in the world.

What right do they have to infiltrate groups that are commiting no crime, nay video their members for survellience purposes when they're taking part in peaceful protest?
Government is there to serve the people, not the reverse.
