Title: level 2 detail model question

 If i understand it right, doesnt Fred II load the level 2 detail of a model? The level 2 features less polygons, im thinking, instead of just scaling down or reconstructing the fs2 models for Startrek armada, why not use these level II's.  Is their a way to delete all the other levels, like 1,3, and 4, and the unnecessary textures and stuff so i can use em in the game.  Its really important, the Startrek game is easy to mod for, i got all the FS2 music in it, and much of the voices and sounds, and some weapons, (i gotta mean beam weapon on my defiant)

No, Fred2 shows detail level 1.

You should convert the POF file to COB. In Truespace delete all the other data (turrets and radardishes etc). So you just have the level2 detail left. Then save it and convert it to the format of your choice. This should work for you.

Things like paths probably gets lost when you convert. Kazan knows more about this.

 I dont have truespace, i had a trial but it expired, would some one be willing to do this for me?

FRED 2 works just like the main game engine...
it displays different detail models depending on the ranges set in the tables...

thats why when you move about 3km from a Hecate or Deimos, their turrets will disappear...
