Title: I have an odd problem.
Post by: Maverick_2005 on December 27, 2005, 08:54:54 pm
Hello.  I've recently reinstalled this game because I wanted to play it again.  However, there's a bit of a strange problem: my afterburners simply will not work.  I push Tab or the joystick button I asigned, and all I hear is the "click" you hear when the burner is out.  Switching joysticks doesn't help (I thought the problem may have been caused by the digital throttle on my previous one), and the one I originally used isn't compatible with my current computer, as it is not a USB stick.  Patching does not seem to help the problem either.  Any ideas?

You'll probably want to look at this (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/FSSCP_Introduction), and then this (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Installing_fs2_open) eventually. :)

However this particular problem seems to happen in XP and is sometimes fixed by running in compatibility mode.

Oh and :welcome:

I'm curious, how did you find us at HLP?

I was on GameFAQs looking up a solution to the problem, and I stumbled onto this.  I GREATLY appreciate what you guys are doing with the FSSCP and FSPort projects, among other things (like the Babylon 5 project).  If I had any modelling or programming skills I'd jump right into it; I love this game.  Thank you for the reply, WMCoolman.  Alas, the downloads don't appear to be working ATM, are you guys aware of this?

::EDIT::

Putting it into Windows 98 compatibility mode fixed the problem.  Thank you again.

Yeah, the downloads server seems to be down for now. I don't know if it's a serious server problem, or something minor and the tech staff is just out for holidays.

Meh, we'll find out soon enough, hopefully.
