I wonder how long until PC's overtake microwaves in terms of power usage.
-
after seeing that 850w PSU, it was only a matter of time.

At this rate, soon you can't afford to keep your shiny new computer running. Seriously, I can understand these kinds of power supplies used in workstations, servers and such. But as soon as you need one to power your gaming rig, something's really wrong.
-
Not really, computers are bound to have to increase their power usage. It's mearly the cost of having better performance. Now what needs to happen is for electricity to become as cheap as dirt.

Does anyone know the cooling abilities of this one?

Supposedly it'll run a dual-SLI setup without the need for external PSUs, although from the reviews it sounds like the 5v line may be a bit lacking.
I was thinking of using it to overclock my old Duron (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5393904704265757054&q=overclock), but it sounds as though I'm going to need some sort of watercooling system.

There are some nuts on XS who have these. :p It makes more sense to me to just get two 500W units for a third of the price.

We're moving into the muscle car age of the computer. :D

LOL but there you go again :p... to some people price isn't everything. it would make more sense to a lot of people to get 10x 100W power supplies to compete with the single 1kw power supply too. but it's not really practical in all applications ;)
although personally i'd go with two power supplies too i guess
