Ok, I am shopping for a cell phone and I just dont know which one to get. I am looking at this http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=1820 (LG VX8100) but I'm not sure if it has everything I want.
I want a phone with:
- MP3s
- would like to use it to get laptop on net
- camera
- memery card
- bluetooth
and it has to work with verizon. Any ideas?

Look up reviews on the phone - specifically for Verizon - before buying the phone. Find the most vitriolic and critical review from someone using the phone by Verizon and take that into account.
I have a v710 from them. Now, supposedly, this phone has Bluetooth file transfer. However, Verizon has disabled this capability for 'security reasons' (although it is simple to completely turn Bluetooth on and off). The ability to transfer phonebooks has also been disabled. Conveniently, you may pay a 'small' fee (about 25 cents a picture, not sure about phonebooks) to use Verizon's transfer service. In other words, all you can do with Bluetooth is to use the phone with your computer as a modem, and use it with a wireless headset.
In addition, although you can load MP3s onto a memory card to play (since Bluetooth is crippled), I have not figured out how to copy them to the phone memory so I can use them as ringtones. I'm suspicious that Verizon disabled that as well. However, you can of course download ringtones from Verizon for about $1 each. (Somewhat cheaper if you get more than one at once)
This site has a nice little spiel on the whole deal: http://www.nuclearelephant.com/papers/v710.html

the V710 is a great phone supposedly... i got it slightly less than a week ago after using a LG 4400 for a good two years before that.
Only reason I chose the V710 over the LG 815, is because i absolutely REQUIRE tri-mode (most of Texas is analog or extended analog, and i do a lot of traveling)

I can recommend MobileBurn (http://www.mobileburn.com/) as a great source for cellphone reviews. As far as phones themselves go, I personally have a dislike of Nokia interfaces; I much prefer Sony Ericsson phones. Very intuitive, well thought-out, devices.

well....
I got the phone. Its pretty cool for my first cell phone. I just need to find a place that sells 1gb minisd cards so I can watch ALIEN on my phone.

I just found a quote that sums up my feelings about cell phone companies pretty well...
They’re posturing egomaniacs driven by an insatiable lust for power, each one capable of unimaginable evil.

So, you make a thread, you ask for advice, you finally get the phone, you hint that i can play movies.....
...but you don't tell us what you got. I should hurt you, you know. :p

I have been looking online for hack sites for it, but I can not find much. All I have found is how to get free internet and how to watch movies / play MP3s on the phone.

Get one with a composer so you can make your own ringtones! ^_^
