Title: Tropical Storm Zeta
Post by: IceFire on December 31, 2005, 02:46:15 pm: Not sure if this is completely unusual but we've now got another named storm in the Atlantic: Tropical Storm Zeta. At least 30 days outside of hurricane season.

IIRC it's something like the earliest hurricane, earliest tropical storm, most tropical storms, strongest hurricane, latest tropical storm and - I think - the most northernly or somesuch.

2006 is here...the next storm will be drawn from this years list of names starting with A. It'll be interesting to see what sort of season we get this year with "last years" season still playing out.

Post by: WeatherOp on January 01, 2006, 12:59:26 pm: It seams to me that we have swiyched our seasons with the West Pacific. The scary thing about that is that their season runs a lot longer than ours they also see more super hurricanes than us, normally several each year. So, sad to say if indead the cycle did flip, this is the norm for a good while.

Also Zeta looks to be strengthening, wouldn't surprise me to reach hurricane status.
