The more of those trailers I watch for this game, the more I wish it's potential wasn't wasted on a console. I don't even think it's coming out for XBox 360.
A game like this should seriously be on PC.
-
No, it's Xbox... After who knows how many years... And it don't look pretty compared to everything else that's coming out now.
-
Your stealth suit is white and gaudy with neon lights on it! How ingenious!
It looks alright, if a little out of date. But the fact they cancelled the Gamecube version means I'll never play it and further deepens my contempt for Blizzard.
-
And there won't be a port, eh? Lordie, what took them so long??

It was supposed to be released one or two years ago. I was starting to think that it would be like Duke Nukem Forever. :D
But Gamecube sucks anyway. :p

*Leers at Kosh*
When did Blizzard cancel the GCN version, and for what purpose!? I've been looking forward to getting it for my 'Cube for years!
-
The screens look like crap, even compared to something like Halo:CE much less HL2.

Sounds like they're focusing on the multiplayer side, making me even less interested.
And Deepblue, it's a Blizzard game. Graphics has never been their strong point.
-
Yeah, I know. But still...
-
Graphics are never intended to be their strong suit. But considering art has always been their strongest suit, I am shocked that it is not found in this game. If you ask me, it looks like it was abandoned, patched up, and 'completed'.
-
Yeah, I know. But still...
There is more to gaming than graphics y'know.
But then, you're completely right. This'll undoubtedly turn out exactly the same as C&C Renegade; a great concept that just didn't mesh as well as it could have...
-
At least it means Starcraft as a whole isn't totally dead. Maybe after this they will finally make StarCraft 2.
-
It's not like Blizzard is known for releasing games early...
I just hope this game doesn't kill the franchise. :doubt:
EDIT:
You saw nothing... :nervous:

May you burn in the deepest, darkest possible hell for saying that. Unless you misspelled "doesn't".
And I'm not going to be convinced this is going to be released until I actually see it on a shelf somewhere...

Like Duke Nukem Forever? ;7

I have recently come into following conclusion: WH40K universe is just so much better than Starcraft's ripoff version. And Starcraft is no longer the best RTS I've played.
I am GW's *****.

what the flying ****? then I simply won't pay for it, I guess. ****ers blew the chance of getting my money. again.
no, wait, I've actually bought a few of their titles. I guess I should stop doing that ****.

When it comes to the balanceing of Dawn of War agains Starcraft I would still prefere Starcraft.
Both are good games and sure the Warhammer game is more modern (nice graphics and stuff) but what make me prefere Starcraft was the good balance between the parties....but I have to admit that I also like DOW a lot.

Well to be honest they both ripped eachother off. The Tyranids had an obvious art change after Starcraft's release...
Starcraft I like mainly because it has the drastic tech differences of the more B5/Aliens-ish Humans, 'Trekish Protoss, and the ever so gooey Silithid... ermm Zerg.

I could like 40K a lot more if not for the North Korean-esque-ness of the Imperium.
IMO, if they really want a faction that's interesting to play as "the best hope for humanity" they'd do better to emulate Rifts' Coalition States. They're still arseholes, but they're likeable enough to stand, and they really come across as being the best hope, instead of holding humanity back.

It's better to die for the Emperor than to live for yourself, heretic.

I really don't understand the "wow" factor behind Starcraft...all it was to me was the basic formula for resource/mass build or resource/early game rush.
Westwood did that at least a few years before, and I don't even like Westwood.
The best strat games are definately Homeworld, Ground Control (possibly), and DoW for me...much more exciting/unique than Starcrap/...I can't think of anything for Command and Conquer. Someone help me out?
-
StarCraft just did the basic RTS things in a very cohesive and well thought out way with enough unit diversity to make it interesting. The trouble and good thing with WestWoods RTS games were the fairly typical tanks would attack more fairly typical tanks in a rock em sock em sort of way. I LOVE that...but StarCraft had its own appeal that makes it I think a little more universal.
For C&C...it was the original Red Alert...that was THE classic C&C game. Everything else since lives in its shadow.

What Ice said. I think SC pitted some fairly different forces against each other in a convincingly balanced fashion; I've seen Protoss turtle-style players and Zerg rushes constantly vying for control and always coming up with a different match. I guess that's why people kept playing it on Battle.net. Also, the story was fun. That's what I'm hanging out for in SC2. :D
-
Pretty much what the last two said, plus the fact that Starcraft was really the first RTS where units never became outclassed.
Terran Marines still had uses in the end game. Now this is pretty common, but before then there wasn't a reason to keep tier one units later on...
-
And the spellcasters.
The High Templar w/ psi storm, the Dark Archon w/ mind control are the sh1t.

Zergling rush kekekekekeke!!!

Starcraft was overall good but I didn't think it was anything really extraordinary. TA came out at around the same time and was a much more impressive game in my opinion.

I thought the original C&C was much better, at least as a single player game. Although RA's skirmish mode gave it a lot more replayability. I still play skirmishes with my old mod fairly often:

He did a mistake on the placing of the bunker and the barracks. the bunker should be in between the CC and the barracks with the barracks in front of it.
