You too can beat up a clone of your favorite boxer from the safety of your living room!

Hmm, and I would have thought you post would have been about this:

/sarcasm
As far as I'm concerned, Halo 3 doesn't exist.

They have some super hi-res screenshots here:

The real question though: Will it be any good?
Boxing games are awfully hit and miss (pun sortof intended). It might just be near-photo-realistic crap which is probably much worse than non-photo-realistic crap.
-
Indeed, it's games like this - that is games geared towards looking darn good - that are forced to put a heck of a lot of their development time into making the game look rediculously good, a necessity given todays gaming landscape. Thus, gameplay is often lacking in even the most picturesque games around.
-
I'm impressed. I didn't even know that the first one was a game shot.
-
First shot is nice - but with a caveat that it's not in motion or owt, and that it's not all that hard to do photorealistic backdrops (you just need a nice high-res camera and texture space, as most rooms are rather low on polys). There's actually something rather odd about that shot, IMO, it almost looks like the background is pre-rendered or something (I know it won't be - there should be no need - but there's some strange discontinuity between boxed models and it IMO)
I think the Xbox360 version of Fifa was/is the best example of the problems we're going to see in the next gen, though - it was ****e, and moreso was a massively cut down version of the other format versions of the game, with an apparent emphasis on useless graphical stuff like 5 inch blades of grass. Unfortunately I'd expect that to be the trend for the first few years of the 360 and PS3 (not the Revolution as, reportedly, it's very similar to the GC in development terms, so you could easily 'port' knowledge of GC development to get up to speed).
Actually, the Rev is currently my 'most anticipated' console; I wonder how you could play this type of game with that controller (use the stick to bob and weave, and 'flick' the remote thingy to throw punches? - that could be ace IMO) - I'm really rather disillusion with this whole '5th generation' (or whatever number it is) stuff now, it seems a case of Emperors New Clothes syndrome.
-
My mate is thoroughly looking forward to being able to strap the Rev controller to his leg for penalties and corners.
I'm not much of a footie fan but I think it sounds like fun. :)

Pff. A shinguard would be cheaper, y'know.

One problem arises... Space.
Imagine four player split screen matches on the Revolution...
"Eat my sword turd!"
"Damn! My nose is bleeding!"
And Fifa 06 for the X360 is pure unadulterated crap. It looks bad, with the only exception being the stadiums (excluding grass).
On the other hand FN3 could be one of the best pure EA games to have come out for a LONG time if they fix the somewhat dodgy animation.
But yeah, on a TV, this game looks bloody photorealistic until you catch the bad animation or see some clipping error.
-
Oh, the fun to be had with a room full of kids, a Revolution football game and a hidden video camera ;)

That's a good point. I mean, the Rev is planned to be excessively cheap on release, on the order of $80-$100 in some reports (although, it'll probably be a bit more expensive), so people with less money, and thus smaller homes, will likely be able to afford it, leading to massive controller-related carnage when you invite friends over for some old-fashioned split-screening.
Also, i'd like to point out that you were hailing PDZ as the be-all and end-all, and it turned out to be an astoundingly average game. So i'd advise everyone takes you 'highlights' with a grain of salt from now on.

Actually I just was pointing out that it looked quite a bit nicer than the early shots seemed to show. I said nothing concerning gameplay, and therien lies the biggest flaw.
-
Must admit, a slight tangent here, but I've been nosying around Game Politics. You do realise that second shot is going to put Jack Thompson and Hilary Clin-ton into some kind of seizure? ;)

I'm quite proud of that boxing game idea, now, actually. Not sure it'd really work for multiplayer, but I think it'd be ****ing ace.

No you didn't - I distinctly remember you posting some quote from Gamespot that it was 'the best FPS you could ever want' or some pish.
-
I don't know if it's just the screens, but on every game on the X-Box 360 that has great player or car models, the game itself is blurry?

No, it said "one of the best FPSs this year..."
Which really doesn't say much since there haven't been that many FPSs this year.
-
(Assuming that you butchered that quote accidentally) ...which means the quote in question should never have been used in the first place. Besides the fact that PDZ technically released in 2005 AFAIK.
-
It was a quote on 360 release day (one of the big ad-cum-screenshot threads), so that'd be 2005. And, indeed, all of it.

That would be the camera/TV.
The game is very sharp in person.

Im unsure on how the Revolution will play out, i hope it turns out well. As for Perfect Dark: Zero, well, as many of us are, i am a Perfect Dark fan. I hope to hell they did it right. But in all odds, they prolly just did it to make money on those who wanted to see a good sequel. But its still a PD, its still a 2nd game to the series, and by god they must have done Something right along the way so, id suggest to buy it and play it anyways, regardless on wether its a average game.
People just dont care these days...

Wait a minute.... you're concerned they made a sequel just to fleece fans of the first game - and you're recommending people buy it because it's a sequel to the first game?!
-
Yeah, that bit confused me too.
-
So, is it just me, or has Rare's run with M$ so far been... less than stellar...?
-
It's not just you. The problem seems to be a lack of innovation. All their recent games feel like N64 games with a graphical upgrade.
However, as demonstrated in PDZs multiplayer, this can sometimes be a good thing.
