I'm suprised no one has said anything about this yet...I read in I think it was the latest Computer Gaming World about one corporation who moved a spy up the ranks of another corporation, all in the intent of assasinating the leader and stealing billions - and they succeeded. Not only did they make away with the Spy's ship - the most valuable ship in the game, of which the only two in existance belong to the victim corporation, but they also made away with millions of game credits, worth upwards of $16,000 dollars, AND they managed to assassinate the leader (podded her and then killed her) - causing her to lose her implants, a cost of +$600.
Anybody hear about this/have a link/have the EvE community's official stance?
-
LoL.
That is hilarious.
Try waving a flag at the guys over here. (http://www.sectorgame.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=29)
-
That is awesome :D
-
When people get this invested in a game, it means you've done something right as a desginer.
...or they're just freaks. One or the other.
-
Wasn't me! :nervous:
-
By the way, you guys might want to know...the leader of the clan is considering suing the culprits :D
-
You're kidding.. right?
-
Yeah, the article was in last months PCG... Anyways, I think it was just insanely cool how they pulled it off. And that is BS if they are going to try and sue the Guiding Hand Club (the name of the bounty huter corp that pulled off the stunt). I mean, all it is is simple PvP and they were given a contract to bring in her body, so they did it the only way one can. Yeah she lost a year of work, but hey, **** happens. Hell, the Guiding Hand's spent almost two years infltrating the guild, rising in rank and everything, so they spent just as much time and effort on it as the target did. It might not be fair, but it happens. I also love the fact that the whole incident was orcistrated by players, not NPC's or anything, just shows you that this game truly does give you th chance to do whatever you want, however you want. I did try the trial, but it didnt fly with me.... Game takes tooooo long, and I am a WoW whore.

So...do corporate hiests and such like this take place often in EvE? If they do, I'll give it a second look :D The combat was just too...un-space-combat for me, though. Is it worth it?
And why was this stickied? :D
-
No idea - it's unsticked now :p
Kinda cool that they pulled it off though.
-
Corp theft is legal within the game environment and the GMs won't reimburse you for your losses. However, its looked down upon by alot of people (for obvious reasons)
-
Wasn't me! :nervous:
Yeah, we all know it was Goob, probley got them invested in FS3 for the X-Box360.Then when they found out it was a scam he stabbed them in the back. :p
-
The only downside for the spy is that for the rest of their time using that character, they'll have a billion-isk bounty on their head and will get podded to **** by every merc, pirate and victim-corp ship in the galaxy.
The only way they could really ensure their safety is by staying permenantly in command of the stolen super-ship.
-
Which is probably what will happen.
-
Any details on this super ship by the way? I don't play the game but I must admit I'm curious...
-
If Thorn's picture thing is accurate, it's collosal beyond compare.
-
Well, the corp that pulled off the stunt has the only two ships of the class known to exist. The name is something like Imperial Apoclypse or something like that. Very expensive and needless to say extremely rare ship.
-
There is only one Carrier and Mothership in the game Afaik.
BoB has the mothership they won it in the caldari tournament.
But dreadnaughts are starting to be prety common though.

-
This is awesome. They're all a bunch of whiny *****es if they want to sue those guys for this. If they put THAT much effort into something like this and pulled it off, more power to them.
-
Any pic available of that super capital ship?
I might be interested in EVE...alltough it's a questionable..price
-
Well, Trashman, it's an acquired taste.

I haven't measured, but I think the Motherships are as big as the Colossus and Titans would be Icanus/Gigas size from Inferno.
The Imperial Apoc was the most expensive ship in game at the time of the theft. Dunno how many exist, but i think I can count them on my hand. However, with the coming of dreadnaughts, motherships and titans, Imp Apocs aren't the most expensive ship anymore. Not to mention you need to be playing since 2003 to even think about piloting capital class vessels.

To play EvE do you need to be online quite a bit?
-
swantz please say your kidding :wtf:

To play EvE do you need to be online quite a bit?
That's siggable.

I hear that if you time it just right, you can pull the ethernet cable in and out of its socket fast enough that you spend the majority of the time offline.
-
If the victim is ever to take justice it must be done in-game.
They're just clueless to do it themselves - set up proxies to prod the pirates, send their own spies, raise bounties...or have the sense to form some sort of union against similar events with the powers that be, hence creating an in-game force of justice.

Wh othe hell di dthe ship design?
Some of those ships are ugly beyond compare.

Coming from Sir Hexagonalot, no less.

EDIT: Sorry, nothing. I made a kind of a reality warp there... :nervous:

thou Sir are so perfect I reckon (yeah right)
At least my ships don't look like something that escaped out of a modern art sculpture museum..
-
I beat both of you in ship design :p
Anyway, yea, the ships are pretty ugly, but they're unique, so I guess they're OK.
-
I think some of them are quite beautiful...
-
Caldari ships vary the most in the aesthetic department, but then, they are designed to blow stuff up, looking gorgeous or streamlined wasn't exactly in the job description. Anyone who's flown a Moa or Moa hybrid will know just how unimportant it is whether your ship is pretty or not when there are rats exploding in techniclour all around you ;)
-
function > form
-
Must admit though, I swear the Amarr Mothership is based on those Motherships from Homeworld 1, when you are in the Nebula....

In other words, your ships are good (better?) because they could be made out of 2 cereal packets, some tinfoil and stickyback plastic, whereas mine are bad because they look like "art" or "sculpture"?
Not that I want to get into a dick waving contest or owt, but you need a better comeback.
-
...I quite like Aldo's work, very much so in fact.

The realy big thing is the titan, the mothership is the second/third largest thing (ex, top middle in hte minmitar)
-
Heh, never been close to either ;) And would probably have the life expectancy of a Glass Hammer if I did ;)
Oh yes and...

AFAIK, the rarest non-cap in the game is the Federate Megathron. There's only one. It lives in Oursulaert somewhere.
As for the ship designs, Inky uber alles. :p Though the Amarr and Caldari produce some good looking warships, I just like the way the Incursus looks like it's going to stab you.
Oh, and Flip, I prefer this one. http://www.winterblink.com/wda/index.php?i=57
